Along with the iPhone 12 series, Apple also announced its new MagSafe accessories, including a leather wallet to hold cards. While the technology itself offers exciting accessory possibilities for the future, those interested in picking up a new iPhone 12 and the leather wallet might want to know just how many cards it can hold?

Apple’s MagSafe makes use of magnets in the back of the new iPhone devices to pair with accessories that feature the corresponding technology. Essentially, consumers can buy these accessories and then simply snap them to the back of the iPhone. Besides the leather wallet, Apple has already confirmed that a wireless charger featuring MagSafe will be available, as well as plenty of other options from third-party accessory manufacturers.

When it comes to Apple’s iPhone Leather Wallet with MagSafe, the company does not actually specify in the listing how many cards it can hold comfortably. Likewise, Apple has yet to really say anything about this elsewhere. As a result, there is no official word on how many cards can slot into the wallet. However, there are some indications suggesting the wallet is unlikely to hold that many cards.

How Many Cards Do You Need?

MagSafe Wallet

In the official product listing, Apple says the leather wallet is designed to keep an iPhone 12 owner’s “ID and credit cards close at hand.” This line alone would suggest that more than one card can fit in the pouch at the same time. Arguably, the “cards” and ID suggest more than two as well. Furthermore, One eagle-eyed Reddit user noted this image (taken from the original October 13 ‘Hi, Speed’ event presentation) which clearly shows two cards in the wallet at the same time. While two cards seems to be fine, many more might start to prove an issue.

Above is a recent iPhone 12 promo video released by Apple that shows some of the same MagSafe footage previously shown during the October 13 main presentation. However, at around the one minute mark, there is another shot (the image shown above) which shows the cards in the wallet from a different angle. The image appears to show two cards in there at the same time, but what makes this perspective so telling is there does not appear to be much space left for any additional cards. Again, one more looks likely to squeeze in, although beyond that remains questionable. For now, anyone considering picking up an iPhone 12, and the MagSafe leather wallet, will probably want to take Apple’s “ID and credit cards close at hand" line at face value, and assume one ID card along with two credit cards is likely the comfortable limit.
