Apple has announced new iPad models, and here are the best features they bring. These new tablets won't be the first Apple will be launching this year. In March, it unveiled the iPad Air 5, launched with the Apple M1 chip, offering similar performance as the 2021 iPad Pro models but at a more affordable price.

The new tablets are not the only exciting iPad-related news from Apple. The release of iPadOS 16.1 is also set for Oct. 24. While Apple has released iOS 16 for the iPhones, iPads are yet to get a new software upgrade. The delayed software update will bring features such as Stage Manager, which allows users to run multiple apps simultaneously in overlapping windows.

Unlike its iPhone event, Apple didn't have an event to launch the new iPad models. Instead, there was a press release detailing the three new tablets, which include new 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models and a new entry-level iPad. The new iPad Pro models have a similar design to their 2021 counterparts which means accessories for the previous generations are compatible with the latest models. However, the big change is under the hood as the new iPad Pro models come with the more powerful Apple M2 chipset.

New Chips With Faster Performance

This is the same processor that powers the MacBook Air announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2022. Compared to the Apple M1 chip inside the 2021 iPad Pro, the M2 chipset has a CPU that is up to 15 percent faster and a GPU that is up to 35 percent faster. It also has a 40 percent faster Neural Engine. The 5nm SoC has an 8-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. The new chip also adds support for recording ProRes videos on the iPad Pro. The 12.9-inch model still has the better display as it uses Mini-LED and has a peak brightness level of 1600 nits. Nevertheless, both have a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Other new features are Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and a new hover feature that determines the position of the Apple Pencil in 3D.

The third iPad model is the 10th Gen entry-level iPad, and unlike the iPad Pro, this comes with an updated design. The new iPad now looks more like the iPad Pro and also comes in attractive colors, unlike the iPad Pro models, which are available in boring Silver and Space Gray. It also packs a larger 10.5-inch display with slimmer bezels which have caused the Touch ID sensor to move to the top and drops the Lightning connector for a USB-C port. Another key upgrade is the chipset which is an Apple A14 Bionic chip, the same one inside the iPhone 12. The cellular model also has 5G since the new chip has a 5G modem. Apple has also updated the rear camera from 8MP to 12MP. While the front camera is still a 12MP sensor, there is support for Center Stage. All three iPad models can already be pre-ordered from Apple's website.
