A new year is a perfect opportunity to renew exercise goals, and just in time for that, Apple Fitness+ is getting a host of new features — the most exciting of which is support for guided running workouts. While Apple has long been known as a hardware company, the tech giant has rapidly doubled down on services over the past couple of years. In 2019, Apple launched Apple News+, Apple TV+, and Apple Arcade. In late 2020, Apple debuted Apple One as a new subscription that bundles all of its best services into one package.

Alongside Apple One, Apple also introduced Apple Fitness+. Fitness+ is an extension of the Fitness app and offers users a ton of guided workouts to get them moving. Fitness+ has everything from HIIT, yoga, pilates, cycling, meditation, and more. The best part? It integrates seamlessly with the Apple Watch. While doing a Fitness+ workout on your iPhone or Apple TV, you can easily see your current heart rate, the status of your Apple Watch rings, and how your effort compares to other Fitness+ users.

Looking to make Fitness+ even better in 2022, Apple just announced a long-awaited feature for the service. Starting this month, Fitness+ users will get guided running workouts with 'Time to Run.' Apple's kicking off Time to Run with three episodes at launch, with one new episode releasing every week after that. Each episode is guided by a Fitness+ trainer and focuses on "a popular running route in some of the most notable and iconic locations" around the world. The accompanying music for Time to Run episodes is catered to that location, and after a workout is complete, users can see pictures of the area taken by the Fitness+ instructor during their run. The three inaugural episodes focus on London, Brooklyn, and Miami Beach. Time to Run episodes can be accessed directly from the Apple Watch, work with indoor and outdoor runs, and change to 'Time to Run or Push' workouts for users in wheelchairs.

Apple Fitness+ Is Also Adding A New 'Collections' Feature

Along with Time to Run, Apple's also launching a new season of Time to Walk — its guided audio workouts focused on walking. Time to Walk Season 3 launches on January 10 with a new episode hosted by Rebel Wilson. Later episodes will include appearances from Chelsea Handler, Bernice A. King, Hasan Minhaj, and more.

And, last but certainly not least, Fitness+ is also getting a new 'Collections' feature. According to Apple, Collections are "a curated series of workouts and meditations from the Fitness+ library organized to help users reach their goals." Over the next few days and weeks, Apple's rolling out the following Collections to Fintess+: 30-Day Core Challenge, Improve Your Posture with Pilates, Perfect Your Yoga Balance Poses, Run Your First 5K, Strengthen Your Back & Stretch Your Hips, and Wind Down for a Better Bedtime.

Time to Run, Season 3 of Time to Walk, and Collections will all be available to new and existing Fitness+ subscribers for no additional cost. You can subscribe to Fitness+ on its own for $9.99/month or $79.99/year, or get it through the $29.95/month Apple One Premier plan. In addition to Fitness+, Apple One Premier also includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and 2TB of iCloud+ storage.
