Apple's AirPods can be used with Samsung Galaxy phones just as easily as with an iPhone. AirPods provide a host of features, including the ability to communicate with Siri, quick charging, and the option to quickly establish a connection with an iPhone when the two are close by. However, one of their biggest advantages is that, like most Bluetooth-enabled devices, they can pair with non-Apple products.

There is a general perception that Apple products can only connect to other Apple products. Whilst this is true for certain products, it not true for AirPods, as they can pair and be used on devices with different operating systems, including Android, Windows, and Chrome OS. Although some features are lost when pairing AirPods to non-Apple devices - audio pausing when removing one AirPod from the ear- they still retain many of the basic and essential features uses would expect from a set of headphones.

While Samsung Galaxy phones can pair with Apple's AirPods, the company's own Galaxy Buds Live may be a more appropriate fit. Either way, to begin the pairing process, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the Samsung Galaxy phone. To do this, tap on Settings, then Connections, followed by Bluetooth. Open the lid of the AirPods whilst they are still inside the case and press (and hold) the setup button located on the back of the case; release the setup button when the status light flashes white. The AirPods should appear in the list of Bluetooth devices on the Samsung Galaxy phone and will be paired once selected.

Problems When Using AirPods With Samsung Phones

Apple offers only one solution when AirPods won't connect to another Apple device: reset the AirPods. Resetting AirPods for Apple devices involves four steps. Firstly, put the AirPods in their case, close the lid for thirty seconds and open it again. Secondly, tap on Settings on your Apple device, then Bluetooth and tap on the "i" next to the AirPods; tap on Forget This Device and then Confirm. Thirdly, with the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the AirPods case for fifteen seconds until the status light flashes amber. Lastly, place the AirPods, whilst in their case with the lid open, next to the Apple device, and follow the on-screen prompts. In contrast, Apple does not provide any guidance on what to do when AirPods won't connect to non-Apple devices, leaving Samsung Galaxy phone owners on their own. Well, kind of.

If problems are encountered when pairing AirPods with a Samsung Galaxy phone, put both AirPods in the charging case for ten seconds and then try to use them again. If that doesn't help then turn the Galaxy phone's Bluetooth off and on again and repeat the previous step. If the AirPods still won't connect to the phone, a reset may be necessary. Resetting the AirPods can solve a lot of problems. To do this follow the reset instructions for Apple devices, but only the first three steps. During the last step, instead of placing the AirPods next to the Samsung Galaxy phone, pairing will have to be done manually by selecting the AirPods in the Bluetooth Settings of the phone.
