Apple’s App Store was down for many users today. Furthermore, it was not just the App Store that appeared to be experiencing technical issues, but also some of the company’s other services as well, including Apple Music, iTunes, and select iCloud-related services. Apple has since noted that the problem is fixed, so users should once again be able to access their services.

Apple provides its customers with a highly integrated ecosystem. This can be a major benefit for those highly invested in the company’s hardware and services, as they are all designed to work seamlessly with each other. However, the downside with such a tightly integrated approach, is that when there are issues, they have the potential to affect a significant number of users. Which seems to be exactly what happened today.

Apple is aware of an issue that was affecting a number of its services today as the company's System Status page was recently updated suggesting the problem had first started around 11:50 AM (PDT). Apple has not gone into deep detail on what the problem was, but does state that users may have found affected services to “be slow or unavailable.” Since the initial update, the System Status page has since been updated again, confirming the issue was resolved at around 12:25 PM (PDT).

What Apple Users Were Experiencing

Although Apple has not provided any firm information on the problems its services were facing, users have taken to various social media platforms, including Twitter, to highlight the issue. The most common one related to the App Store and iTunes. Essentially, when a user tried to access either service, or make a purchase, they were presented with a “temporarily unavailable” or “temporarily unable to purchase'' message. In other cases noted on Down Detector, some users were experiencing more fundamental issues, including the inability to sign in to the App Store. Furthermore, as the issue also seemed to be affecting services like Apple Music, users were also experiencing general streaming issues as well.

Again, the issue is now listed as resolved, so users should find that any problems they were encountering up until now should be fixed. However, if a user is still experiencing an issue, then it might be worth refreshing the app they were using. Whether it is the App Store, iTunes, Apple Music, or any other Apple service, the problem was with Apple and not a user’s connection or devices.
