A trailer showcasing the brand new map heading to Apex Legends has hit the Internet, and fans are spotting similarities to several notable locales from developer Respawn Entertainment's past work on Titanfall. Season 7 of EA's popular battle royale will take the action to a brand new location for just the third time. Named Olympus, the aerial map is a far cry from both Kings Canyon and World's Edge in both color scheme and functionality. Apex Legends has never looked as bright and colorful as it does in the new trailer, which could partially be due to the inspiration it takes from what Respawn has made before.

Season 7 will see the game migrate from EA's PC launcher to Steam for the first time. EA's expansion back onto Steam has been a positive one, with games like Titanfall and past Need for Speed titles climbing the top sellers' charts years after their initial debut. With Apex Legends' continued popularity and the new features coming to the game in Season 7, it's likely to draw the same increased level of attention.

The new Season 7 Ascension trailer gives players a good overview of what's coming to the game alongside Olympus. Mirage is seen teaming up with Pathfinder and new legend Horizon, an who gained gravity powers by escaping from the pull of a black hole. She pilots the Trident, a new drivable vehicle available on Olympus that will give players new movement options. Or, players could crash them in an explosive blaze of glory, as seen with the fiery fate of poor Octane and his teammates.

Season 7 will also bring along a new battle pass with over 100 exclusive items for players to grab, as well as a Club system. Similar to Guilds in other online games, Clubs will let players build a team from inside Apex Legends, which is a logical step forward for a game so focused on the team aspect of gameplay.

The new map also brings a little more of the Titanfall flavor to Apex Legends. Although the two games indeed take place in the same world, Apex Legends is missing features like the all-important Titans, which leaves fans of the original franchise out of the loop. The new Olympus map borrows its flair from stylish locations like the Pilot's Gauntlet and Titanfall 2 multiplayer map Glitch. With floating platforms and plenty of greenery, the game is a bit closer to feeling like another corner of the world portrayed in the Titanfall duology.

Apex Legends launched less than two years ago, but it's proven to be a mainstay of the free-to-play scene and will likely stay that way for years to come if Respawn Entertainment can keep up the pace. It's been one of the only online games to be able to keep up with Fortnite's breakneck update schedule, and it offers precise first-person shooting that keeps it in the rotation for many around the world. It's cold comfort to fans who want to see a new Titanfall entry, but it's clear that Respawn Entertainment is in a position to make exactly what they want with EA in the years ahead.
