The latest trailer for Apex Legends Season 6 shows off lots of features that fans of the battle royale have been looking forward to in its next stage, including changes to the World’s Edge map, the new crafting mechanic, and the anticipated Volt SMG weapon. Of course, it also gives another look at Rampart, the new Legend joining the game this upcoming season. As has been previously revealed, Rampart will fight with a massive machine gun that she can transform into a stationary turret.

Rampart looks like an exciting addition to Apex Legends, potentially opening up totally new strategic possibilities with her unique skills. Even before she’s officially joined the fighting, Rampart has also given developer Respawn Entertainment another opportunity to build out Apex Legends’ backstory. In a recent Tales from the Outlands character trailer, Rampart was seen being recruited by Kuben Blisk, the antagonist of Titanfall 2. Since its launch, Apex Legends has had a growing number of connections to Respawn’s Titanfall series, including the upcoming Volt SMG, which first appeared there.

Unlike previous Apex Legends Season 6 trailers that focused on its new character, the latest one from Respawn is all about action. It opens with Rampart using her stationary machine gun to mow down enemies before transitioning into a montage of new features and exciting combat. The trailer offers a few glimpses at cosmetics coming in the new Season 6 battle pass as well as a quick look at the upcoming crafting feature. As the trailer shows, the World’s Edge map is also having some work done, most notably by getting increased defensive fortifications in some key areas. The Volt SMG looks just as powerful as it was in Titanfall 2, releasing waves of electricity at its targets. Finally, viewers are given another look at Rampart, including her ability to build makeshift barriers, which look especially deadly when combined with her machine gun in turret mode.

Aside from the launch of Season 6, the biggest news for Apex Legends this fall is that it’s coming to Steam. While there’s no solid release date yet, Respawn is rewarding anyone who joins the game on Steam shortly after it launches there with some cute Valve-themed charms so they can fight in style.

Apex Legends has grown a lot since it was surprise released at the beginning of 2019. The upcoming Season 6 looks like it’s bringing some of the most exciting changes to the game yet, making it an excellent chance to jump back on or try it out for the first time when it finally hits Steam.
