Update (10/25/2021 3:40 PM EDT): The Apex Legends Season 11 gameplay trailer has now released, fully revealing the game's Storm Point tropical island map, Ash's abilities, and the return of the C.A.R SMG from Titanfall.

The original story continues below.

The new trailer for Apex Legends Season 11 (dubbed "Escape") provides a look at new Legend Ash’s abilities and a tropical map. Developer Respawn Entertainment initially revealed Titanfall 2 character Ash would be Apex Legends' new playable character in the latest episode of its Stories from the Outlands video series. Dubbed Ashes to Ash, the video gave viewers a look at some of Ash’s past and current lore, teasing a new story connection between the Simulacrum Pilot and former colleague Horizon.

Ash's story intersected with the in-universe Apex Games long before her upcoming debut as a playable character. During Season 5, Loba was tasked to collect and reassemble the pieces of Ash’s head. She was then eventually enlisted by former Apex Predators boss Kuben Blisk to run Apex Legends' Arenas mode, which is where she’s been in the game until now.

An animated Apex Legends Season 11 launch trailer shows off Ash’s abilities, and a full gameplay reveal is coming October 25. One of Ash's abilities appears to be a shuriken which can be thrown into the ground to shock and potentially incapacitate nearby enemies. Another ability involves Ash throwing a Titan Pilot Data Knife into a corpse (likely translating into a death box in-game) to determine players' locations. Lastly, Ash’s ultimate ability appears to be a more offensive version of popular Apex Legends character Wraith’s portals, as she uses her sword to cut through reality to reappear behind an opponent in the trailer. It’s unclear how each these abilities will actually work in-game, but the animation gives a glimpse of what can be expected when Ash becomes available.

Apart from Ash’s abilities, the Season 11 launch trailer also reveals Apex Legends' new tropical island map. The video appears to confirm leaks that sprung from an earlier datamine, which claimed the new map would be a tropical island located on the planet Gaea. Game data also suggested there would be new AI-controlled wildlife players would need to be wary of, which was also confirmed in the new trailer with its inclusion of Prowlers, Carthage spiders, and a Flyer. Lastly, Apex Legends Escape's trailer also teases the Titanfall C.A.R. SMG that set to be added in the Season 11.

Ash’s abilities look like potentially powerful offensive tools, meaning she might be a good choice for players that like to be aggressive and actively hunt down foes. The new tropical map's PvE elements will also be an interesting addition to the game and change how matches play out, as players will likely need to be more wary of their environment with human Legends and AI-controlled wildlife to worry about. It’s also probable the new tropical island map will fix more Apex Legends glitches and rebalance the playable roster, but that will be known for certain by the time Season 11 launches on November 2.
