The release date of Apex Legends on the Nintendo Switch seems to have leaked once again, this time on Amazon Japan. Apex Legends was initially announced for release on the Switch as well as on Steam back in June last year and was supposedly scheduled to come out in the fall. Unfortunately, while Apex Legends’ Steam release successfully pushed in November, the Switch launch was delayed to this year, with no release window announced.

It wasn’t until last week when the release date of the Switch version of Apex Legends was supposedly leaked in the Japanese version of the game’s Season 8 trailer. The description of the Apex Legends for Switch trailer initially mentioned that the game would be available on the Switch when Season 8 launches on February 2, 2020. That description was edited soon after and neither the game’s developer Respawn Entertainment nor Nintendo has commented on it since, which isn’t really surprising.

This second leak may finally be enough proof to confirm the release date though. An Amazon Japan listing, shared by GoNintendo, for the game’s Champion Edition for the Switch is currently available for pre-order with a release date of February 2, 2020. Not only does the date mentioned in the listing coincide with the launch of Season 8, it also matches the previously leaked information in the aforementioned trailer’s description. The listing also mentions that the version of the game that will be sold in the listing is an “Import Version” from North America, which may explain its 5,641 Yen price tag. That's around $54 and is notably pricier than the Champion Edition on other platforms (priced at only $39.99).

The Champion Edition of the game was initially released for other platforms last November at the start of Season 7. It includes all the characters that are currently available in the game, seven Legendary items including skins and a gun charm, and 1,000 Apex Coins so players can purchase even more cosmetics. If Apex Legends releases on the Switch at the start of Season 8, the Champion Edition will be missing one of the game’s characters, namely Fuse, who will be introduced at the start of the new season. But the included 1,000 Apex Coins in the Champion Edition could potentially be used to unlock him as well.

With the two recent leaks, the Switch release of Apex Legends is pretty much assured to be on February 2, 2020, unless either Respawn or Nintendo suddenly announce another date or delay in the coming week before Season 8 begins. If the Nintendo Switch version does actually come out next week, it’ll complete the developer’s previous plan to not only release the game on all major platforms but also provide cross-play support across them all.
