With Apex Legends13th season just kicking off, there is plenty of new and exciting features coming to the popular battle royale video game. While not nearly as cartoonish as FortniteApex Legends has more than a bit of comedic charm.

Ultimate edgelords Revenant and Caustic often find their seriousness hilariously undercut by the pork-chop-eating antics of Mirage and wholesome quips of Pathfinder. But most of the voice lines from the Legends build up their characterization, adding personality and backstory to Apex Legends.

Lifeline

"Next Time. Next Time You'll Do Better."  “Just ‘Cause We In A Fight Don’t Mean Buddy Has To Die. Patchin’s Mah Business." "Mozambique Here."

Apex Legends: Why Lifeline Is The Most Essential Character In Arenas

Lifeline, AKA Ajay Che, was one of the original Legends available to use when the game came out, and despite other support characters joining the roster, she remains one of the most popular. And her voice lines do a great job of adding to her playful, semi-mocking personality.

After getting killed by a Lifeline hearing that "Next time you'll do better" does not make anybody feel any better, although hearing her quips as she revives can be a small solace. And her meme-worthy pronunciation of "Mozambique" still gets laughs several years after Apex's release.

Loba

“You Rock My World. Thanks, Kairi!” "Black Market Here. In The Mood For Some Shopping?" "Gold Goes So Well With A Diamond Like Me."

Since joining Apex in season 5, Loba has been the game's ultimate loot goblin, along with playing into the femme fatal trope. Her voice lines not only support that, but they also show her connections to other Legends, especially Valkyrie. Loba and Valkyrie constantly flirt with each other if they are on the same team.

Loba also has one of the saddest backstories and a deep, abiding hatred for Revenant, who killed her parents, and her disgust for him is obvious in her lines. But the reason players pick Loba is her loot-gathering abilities; her lines about her Black Market ultimate let all her teammates know that easy loot is nearby. And being one of the more fleshed-out characters means more story-driven lines are surely coming for Loba.

Caustic

"Entropy Is The Natural Order Of The Universe. I Simply Catalyze The Process." "I Do Not Care Who Makes The Kill. As Long As I Can Observe It Die." "Don't Be Fooled, I'm A Man Of Science."

Apex Legends Caustic Nerf

One of the more self-serious Legends, Caustic's voice lines reveal a character that is more than a little creepy. He has a wide mad-scientist streak, and his obsessions with death and the mechanics around dying only add to his vibe of a character that is not totally sane.

His Nox gas tanks have been dangerous traps since the game's release, and his bruising dialogue matches his playstyle, as he is the only tank Legend with no healing abilities. But his ability to slow down opponents and deny areas has kept him popular among players.

Mirage

"It's A Good Day To Take Out Some Fools And Be Back In Time For Dinner! I Got Pork Chops Tonight. Love Pork Chops. "So I Like To Have A Little Fun. So What?" "Hah. Bamboozles For The Fool-Zles. Yeah I Said It."

If Apex Legends had a singular mascot, it would be Mirage. Part trickster god, part standup comedian, the holographic-projecting Legend has been a staple since the game's 2019 release. Nothing is quite as annoying as hearing the many variations of "bamboozled" when users fall for one of his projections.

His fun-loving nature is a much-needed balm compared to the more serious Legends, despite the fact that his humor does not always connect. Although, that is certainly part of his charm. While not used heavily in higher ranks, he is fittingly a constant in less serious public matches.

Bangalore

"Flatline Here. Hits Harder Than The 301, But Harder To Control." "Clips Are What Civvies Use In Their Hair, This Is Called A Magazine." "Real Men Use Iron Sights? Heh, I Use Heavy Artillery”.

Bangalore looking fierce and holding a gun in Apex Legends

Despite outwardly being one of the more serious Legends, Bangalore, AKA Anita Williams, has some of the most unintentionally funny voice lines of any character. Her habit of giving a quick description, as well as, the pros and cons of not only almost every weapon but every item, is downright hilarious.

Although it is easy to see Bangalore delivering some of these lines with a tongue-in-cheek smile, more often than not she is deadly serious. Bangalore's weapon-heavy kit helps hammer home on how professional and tool-centric this Apex mainstay is.

Wattson

"Fence Them In, Fence Them Out." "I'm Current-Ly At The Top Of My Game! Get It?" "Your Energy Will Return To The Atmosphere. Hey, Maybe That's What Ghosts Are!"

Apex Legends Wattson with Gun

While season 1 Legend Mirage has the reputation as the funny one, Wattson is certainly the punniest. Her utility is based on blocking opposing players from entering rooms and buildings with her signature electric fences, so as gameplay has changed over the seasons so has her usage since Wattson's season 2 introduction.

Along with the voice lines, Wattson boasts some of the most fun and interesting skins in the game, which only adds to her fun-loving personality, all of which nearly seems out of place in a vicious battle royale game.

Revenant

"They Made Me A Killing Machine. Who Am I To Argue With Programming?" "You Don't Wanna See This Up Close, Skinbag." "Everyone Dies"

Apex Legends Revenant Season 4 Art

Part human, part robot, all edge is the best way to describe evil assassin Revenant. While other Legends have, at most, a sportsman's excitement with the required killing in Apex Legends, Revenant relishes it. His voice lines toe the line towards dramatic, but still have an unsettling angle.

His interactions with Loba in particular have a particularly cutting bite, considering their history. His shout of "Everyone dies!" as players launch from the dropship in the beginning of each match really sets the tone of this season 4 addition to Apex.

Seer

"If We Are Defeated, We Will Still Make It Beautiful." "I Fight On Behalf Of The Odd Ones... Which Could Be Any One Of You, I Suppose." "Let Them Stare. What They See Is For Me To Choose."

Since exploding onto the Apex Legends scene in season 10, Seer has been one of the strongest personalities and characters in the game. His abilities are based on revealing the location of enemy players, his ultimate in particular is one of the games most useful, showing Seer and his teammates not only the position of opposing players, but also their health and footsteps.

Newcastle

"Defender Of The Weak, The Innocent, And-- Who Am I Kidding? I've Got Everyone's Back." "Another Story Added To The Legend Of Newcastle." "Life Has Its Ups And Downs. Unfortunately, You're Down."

Only time will tell how the fan community will receive the newest addition to Apex Legends, Newcastle. His abilities straddle the line between tank and healer, but he also has some interesting mobility traits. His voice lines underpin a jocks confidence, but with a dash of friendly competition.

Currently what is most interesting about Newcastle is his real name Jackson Williams, the presumed dead brother of Bangalore. So far, the two have a little sister/big brother dynamic, with Newcastle often teasing her. As seasons progress, that is sure to deepen.

Pathfinder

"A Match A Day Keeps The Doctor Away! Just Kidding, I'm Made Of Metal." "Oops, I Killed You On Purpose." "You Did A Really Mediocre Job, Friend!"

Apex Legends Characters Pathfinder

More than a few characters were designed to be funny, but none top the wholesome putdowns of season 1 mainstay Pathfinder. One of the original Apex characters, Path has remained a fan favorite, despite nerfs to his signature grappling hook making him a little harder to use.

A big part of that is his downright hilarious voice lines. His delivery has a sing-song quality that adds to the humor, when players are using him, and to the frustration when players are killed by him. His insistence that the other Legends are all friends he's playing with is a great comedic touch.
