Respawn Entertainment has just released a new gameplay trailer for Apex Legends, showcasing its latest character, Fuse, as well as some of the content that’s coming with the launch of Season 8. Fuse was announced on January 18 with the latest Stories from the Outlands trailer, explaining the character’s explosive backstory and how he came about becoming an Apex Games contestants despite his bandit lifestyle.

Fuse’s story was further detailed in the recent Season 8 launch trailer, which shows Fuse’s grand arrival at Kings Canyon before being disastrously interrupted by Maggie, his rival from the aforementioned backstory trailer. She not only hacks into Fuse’s ship and uses its cannons to fire onto the onlooking crowd, but also sets off explosives that devastate the landscape of Kings Canyon, causing Fuse’s ship to crash in the process. The events shown in the launch trailer also set up the latest revamp of the game’s map, which is aptly being called Obliterated Kings Canyon.

Apex Legends' new Season 8 gameplay trailer has a grindhouse film bent, showing Fuse (real name Walter Fitzroy) in action and some of the most notable additions coming with the new content batch. This includes new legendary skins, such as the new Bad to the Bone skin for Lifeline, the Radical Action skin for Bangalore, and the DMR X-1 reactive skin for the Longbow. The new 30-30 Repeater lever-action rifle is also shown, revealing its ability to charge up shots for more damage like the Charge Rifle and HAVOC Rifle.

The trailer also gives players a good glimpse at the aforementioned Obliterated Kings Canyon, which will feature new locations and points of interest such as the crash site of Fuse’s ship, item-filled explosive holds, ECHO outposts, and observation towers. Another new addition that was shown off is the new gold magazine that players may find across the new map, which has the same capacity as purple magazines but with the added bonus of automatically reloading the weapon it’s used in when it’s holstered.

Lastly, the trailer gives players the chance to see Fuse’s abilities in action, including his Tactical ability that lets him fire a grenade from his forearm that explodes midair as well as his Ultimate skill that sees Fuse launch a shell from from his cannon that detonates above his enemies to rain fire on them.

The introduction of Fuse to the roster of Apex Legends is looking to be much more significant than just another character, as his entrance also brought in the latest facelift for the game’s map. Season 8 is definitely going to be one of the game’s biggest seasons yet, especially considering the possibility of the game releasing on the Nintendo Switch at the same time the new season launches on February 2, 2021.
