Apex Legends Download Guide: How to Install on Xbox, PS4, & PC

Apex Legends Map with Logo

Respawn Entertainment's new battle royale game, Apex Legends, has been officially revealed and is now available to download on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Perhaps the worst kept secret in the industry is Respawn's Apex Legends, which was hinted at last year when EA revealed in an earnings call that they had their recently-acquired studio Respawn working on two games: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and an unannounced title at the time.

As time went on, it became clear that Respawn wasn't working on Titanfall 3 but rather a battle royale set in the same universe as the Titanfall series - Apex Legends. EA and Respawn made Apex Legends official on Monday when they unveiled the game during a livestream on Twitch and immediately made the new battle royale game available to play on consoles and PC (though it's unclear if the game will ever release on the Nintendo Switch).

Interestingly, while Apex Legends is now available to download, it's not being promoted on the game stores yet, and is even nowhere to be found on Respawn's actual website. So, we've put together a quick guide on how to download Apex Legends on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

How to Download Apex Legends on PC

Since Apex Legends is an EA game, it can be found only on Origin. Heading to the Origin Store should bring up an option to download Apex Legends. If not, it can be found by searching for "Apex Legends" in the search box or by clicking on this link HERE. Unfortunately, people shouldn't expect to see Apex Legends show up on Steam or any other launcher on PC.

How to Download Apex Legends on Xbox One

Playing Apex Legends on Xbox One requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription, and the game can be downloaded simply by searching for "Apex Legends" in the Xbox Games Store or by visiting the Microsoft Store site HERE.

How to Download Apex Legends on PS4

Unlike with Xbox One, the PS4 version of Apex Legends doesn't require a PS Plus subscription to play online, and the game can be downloaded by also searching for "Apex Legends" in the PlayStation Store or by visiting the store online HERE.

Respawn's Apex Legends is currently free-to-play and aims to subvert the battle royale genre with its renewed focus on teamwork, equipment, and using the environment to win matches. While it's great to have a new addition to the battle royale genre, releasing Apex Legends this close to Anthem's debut as well as the release of Battlefield V's Firestorm battle royale mode could cannibalize EA's sales for the latter two games. It wouldn't be the first time that the publisher released too many games too close together - but we'll have to wait and see if Apex Legends is ultimately worth playing for the long haul.
