Apex Legends has unveiled some of the details of its upcoming new season, including the addition of a Titanfall 2 character into the popular battle royale’s roster. Apex Legends is set over 30 years after the events of the two Titanfall games, which is a small enough gap that makes it easy to connect the three titles together, whether through their characters or stories.

From the onset, Titanfall and Apex Legends are already intrinsically linked as the proprietor of the Apex Games, Kuben Blisk, played an important role in the stories of both Titanfall and Titanfall 2, serving as a deuteragonist in former and one of the two main antagonists in the latter. One of the other playable characters in Apex Legends, Valkyrie, is also connected to Titanfall 2. Added in Season 9, Valkyrie is the daughter of Viper, one of Blisk’s Apex Predator mercenaries and one of the most challenging boss fights players have to face in Titanfall 2.

Respawn Entertainment recently unveiled that Ash will be the new Legend to join the Apex Games when Apex Legends Season 11 launches. Ash was previously added as part of an in-game event and eventually made appearances as a background character. Back in Season 5, Loba was tasked to collect the pieces of Ash’s head as part of a season quest. The Simulacrum Pilot was fully reconstructed and eventually enlisted by her old boss Blisk to run the underground Arenas of the Apex Games. Now, Ash is actually taking part in the Apex Games as its latest Legend.

The latest episode of Apex Legends’ Stories from the Outlands video series shows some of Ash’s background as well, including glimpses into her past life as Dr. Ashleigh Reid, the former apprentice of Dr. Mary Somer (Horizon) before the former betrayed her and their team. The new Apex Legends character trailer ends with the two reuniting, teasing a potential story arc involving the two of them as well as Newton, Olympus creator Lillian Peck, and a person named Leigh. Apart from the addition of Ash into Apex Legends’ roster, the rest of the content that players can look forward to in Apex Legends Season 11 include the new C.A.R. SMG as well as a new battle pass and ranked season.

Even though most players have very little hope that Titanfall 3 will ever happen, at least the series is able to somewhat live on in Apex Legends as the latter incorporates more elements from the former. While it’s not impossible that fans could still see another entry in the Titanfall series, it may not come anytime soon, as long as Apex Legends remains popular enough for Respawn Entertainment to focus on, along with the studio’s other projects.
