It was a dark day for fans of A.P. Bio when NBC announced the show’s cancellation. The popular comedy follows Glenn Howerton as Jack Griffin, a former philosophy professor who finds work as a high school biology teacher after being fired from Harvard. In doing so, he tries to find the best way out of the town of Toledo and back into his old as fast as possible. Fortunately, Jack eventually starts to warm up to his new life, even forming relationships with his coworkers and students that he never initially wanted.

Now that the show has been canceled, however, audiences are left with an abundance of questions as to where the characters end up after the events of season two. Here is our list of 10 questions that will never get answered now that A.P. Bio has been canceled.

What Of Jack’s Future?

By the end of season two, Jack is brought face-to-face with a major decision. After finally admitting that he could learn to like Toledo as well as confirming his relationship status with Lynette, Jack is given an opportunity to get his book published.

This was exactly the opportunity that he was waiting for all season, yet he now has to struggle with which opportunity to go with. Furthermore, publishing the book doesn’t necessarily mean that Jack has to leave Toledo, making it possible that he would try to juggle both aspects of his life.

What Happens Between Heather & Dan?

Heather and Dan were always one of the more interesting pairings in the series. It was revealed that the two had a crush on each other during the first season, and audiences got to see the relationship begin to grow throughout the second. The dark, nerdy, and mysterious nature of Heather easily could have come to clash with Dan’s athletic, cool, and popular personality.

However, the two worked very well together and seemed to have the makings of a very cute couple. Unfortunately, audiences will never get to see this young love blossom into anything greater.

Does Jack Ever Learn To Grow As A Character?

It was always obvious that Jack was going to be affected by his new environment. In the show’s pilot, there is heavy foreshadowing where Jack denounces everything to do with his current job, the school, and the town, meaning that everything he just promised wouldn’t happen was bound to happen.

Throughout the second season especially, viewers really get to see Jack as he becomes more and more attached to his environment. With the cliffhanger for the series, though, Jack could just as easily decide to abandon the town and his new life for something that resembles his old one. While we may never know the outcome of Jack’s decision, there is at least hope that he made the right one.

What Of Jack & Lynette?

Lynette played a very big part in season two. Serving as Jack’s love interest, she was a major factor in him learning to like the town. Being a coworker also made for some great bouts of drama and humor as well, but she really excelled at helping to develop Jack’s character. By the end of the season, the two decide that they really do like each other and become an exclusive item.

However, the outcome of their relationship will now never be known due to cancellation. Jack could very easily decide to abandon Lynette, take her with him, stay with her, and so on. While it was obvious that Jack had very real feelings for her, it would be nice to know how the series would develop the two characters together.

Does Jack Ever Get Back At Miles?

Season one saw Jack attempting to take out his rival, Miles. Miles was part of the reason Jack was fired from Harvard and why he ended up in Toledo in the first place. Though it is eventually revealed that Miles is a very nice guy in general, he was the “villain” throughout the first season.

Miles certainly tries to help Jack at times, but he is never mentioned during season two. While his presence in the show isn’t as necessary since Jack abandoned his quest to take Miles down, it would still be nice to know the outcome of the feud.

Does Jack Ever Get Out Of Toledo?

By the time the series got canceled, it was pretty obvious that Jack’s journey would end when he realizes he is happy. Based on the direction the series was starting to take, it was very likely that Jack would learn to love Toledo, his job, and even his peers.

Now that it’s been canceled, though, audiences will never get the resolution or confirmation they crave. The show could just as easily have ended with Jack leaving Toledo to return to his old life, going for a much different moral tone. Unfortunately, we will never see these characters to the end of their journey.

What About Jack’s Book?

When Jack abandoned his quest to take down his rival, Miles, he quickly turned to writing a book about his experiences and the people of Toledo. By the season finale, Jack finally had an opportunity to see his book published. Surprisingly enough, Sarika, the student who likely hated Jack the most, offered him a publishing deal with her aunt in exchange for him helping her get into Harvard.

Sarika’s aunt happens to love the book and wants to meet with Jack to see about getting it published. While the book was Jack’s golden ticket out of Toledo, the finale spins it so that it may be a bad thing, as it would mean that Jack would have to leave his new life behind. The series ends with Jack turning over several possible outcomes in his head, with his book being one of them.

How Does Helen Do In School?

On one of the show’s much more humorous notes, the finale saw Helen go from an administrator to one of Jack’s students. Following rejection from college, Helen realizes that she must get her high school diploma first. This ultimately results in her attending Whitlock High as a student, landing her in Jack’s class.

Part of why the situation was so funny is that Jack, being a horrible teacher, would actually have to do his job with Helen in the class, especially since she is so close with Jack’s boss. Alas, we will never get to see the antics between Jack and Helen unfold going forward.

Does Sarika Ever Get Into Harvard?

Sarika was always one of Jack’s more persistent students. As one of the smarter, more determined ones, Sarika actually desired to learn and made things very difficult for Jack at times. As the series went on, Sarika actually learned to lighten up a bit and even came to respect Jack to some degree.

However, the situations in the classroom never made her lose sight of her goal to get into Harvard. As season two ends, Sarika successfully sneaks her application into the priority folder for the Harvard recruiter. Unfortunately, we will never get to see the outcome of this situation.

 What About The Other Kids?

Going beyond kids like Heather, Dan, and Sarika, what will happen to Marcus, Anthony, Grace and all the other students in Jack’s class? Each of the main kids showed great potential as characters in their own right, offering their own moment to shine above others in different ways. It is part of why Jack came to like them and why audiences came to love them.

Now that A.P. Bio has been canceled, we will never get to see the students grow into who they are meant to be, with or without Jack. Hopefully, in an age where fans can save shows simply by expressing support, A.P. Bio will find its way back to the screen.
