When and how will Anya Taylor-Joy next appear in the world of movies? The British-American-Argentine actress took the world by surprise in late 2020 with the widely regarded success of her Netflix limited series The Queen’s Gambit, starring Taylor-Joy in the main role of a 1960s orphan turned international chess champion. The role has gained her much more than just a Best Actress Golden Globe win and a front-running position for the Emmys, she’s also become one of the most bankable stars for upcoming projects.

Beth Harmon was hardly Anya Taylor-Joy’s first promising role, as she was also the lead in the 2020 film adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, and had a main role in Peaky Blinders’ fifth season opposite Cillian Murphy. Before her recent dramatic characters, Taylor-Joy made a name for herself in the horror genre as the primary female characters in Robert Eggert’s The Witch (2016) and M. Night Shyamalan's Split (2017) and its sequel Glass (2019).
