Actor Paul Rudd has addressed the rumors of Bill Murray being in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Rudd is currently filming the third solo film for the Ant-Man series, alongside his co-stars from the previous films, including Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer, as well as new cast members Kathryn Newton and Jonathan Majors. Director Peyton Reed is returning to direct with a script by Rick & Morty writer Jeff Loveness.

Recently, a rumor surfaced that Bill Murray had been cast in Ant-Man 3, based on an interview he did with a German newspaper. Murray responded to the rumor on Jimmy Kimmel Live shortly after, giving a cryptic non-denial response that continued to fuel speculation even more. The veteran actor left the query with, "I am not at liberty to talk about it."

Now, Rudd himself has responded to the rumor while being questioned by Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Rudd, recently named People's Sexiest Man Alive 2021, answered a direct query about Murray being in the film in his standard coy way, saying that he's "heard about this rumor" and likened it to people confusing it with Murray's appearance in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The actor doesn't cop to any truth in the rumor, but his signature playfulness is on full display, which, like Murray's response, is neither confirmation nor denial. Check out his response below:

At this point it's well-known that Murray is appearing in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, but the elusive actor is notoriously picky about the roles he takes. He's become a staple cast member for director Wes Anderson's films at this point, always appearing in a big or small role for the auteur's work. Otherwise, Murray pops up here and there for bit parts, guest spots, or unexpected roles in unexpected films altogether. The star is currently shooting Anderson's next film, Asteroid City, and is rumored to appear in Peter Farrelly's next film, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, with Zac Efron and Russell Crowe.

While it seems fairly certain that Murray likely has a role in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, it's likely a small, but fun role that will surely add some extra charm to the film. Of course, Murray could surprise everyone have a much bigger part to play in the film, although what that part may be on either spectrum is anyone's guess. As one of the most beloved actors and comedians in Hollywood, having Murray in any film is a tremendous get, and he joins the ranks of many a seasoned actor that has dipped their toes in the MCU water, including Ant-Man star Michael Douglas, Robert Redford, William Hurt, Michael Keaton, and Sylvester Stallone. Whoever Murray is (or isn't) playing, he's among good company for his comic-book debut.
