David Dastmalchian's Kurt Goreshter won't be in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprise their superhero roles on the heels of the Infinity Saga in director Peyton Reed's upcoming Marvel Studios film, the third in the Ant-Man series. Currently the last named Marvel Studios project on the release calendar, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is expected to hit theaters on July 28, 2023.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania plot details are still scarce at this point. Production started in London, and while Reed announced the wrap of principal photography back in November, recent set images of Rudd as Scott Lang in Los Angeles suggest there is still filming to be done. Aside from its titular characters, Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer will also be back as Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne, and Michael Peña's Luis will feature in the film as well.

However, Luis might be the only character from Scott's trio of ex-convict friends who will appear in the project. Speaking with Screen Rant at the Moon Knight red carpet premiere, Dastmalchian confirms that he isn't currently involved in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The actor doesn't get into specifics as to why he wasn't included, though it sounds like he is still waiting on the call to come back. Despite that, the actor is more than excited about what Reed and the rest of the crew are currently working on. Read his full comment below:

It doesn't look like it... But that's okay. I know they're making something incredible. I can't wait to see what Peyton does next. He's one of my favorite directors...   He's been so busy. I have tried to stay in touch, but he's making an incredible film right now.

Ant-Man and the Wasp Kurt David Dastmalchian

There's still a chance that Dastmalchian will be called to partake in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, especially since it appears that he has a great enough working relationship with Marvel Studios to attend the Moon Knight premiere. However, one other member of their friend group has long been confirmed as absent from the threequel: T.I., who played Ant-Man's Dave, is also not on the film's cast list. While it's unconfirmed, reports claim that the reason why Marvel Studios isn't bringing him back is because of allegations against the rapper and his wife, Tiny, for "sexual abuse, forced ingestion of illegal narcotics, kidnapping, false imprisonment, intimidation, assault and harassment." The pair vehemently denied these, but they are expected to have been a factor nonetheless. That leaves Luis as the only employee of X-Con Security Consultants left standing.

Assuming that Dastmalchian also sits out Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, it could be an indication of what the movie's story could be like. Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror is the movie's confirmed villain, hinting that Scott and Hope van Dyne's upcoming adventure will be less grounded compared to previous Ant-Man films. That leaves Scott's friends very little to do - but with Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) confirmed involvement, perhaps they can be tied to his plotline, possibly some of the former-S.H.I.E.L.D. director's new, unassuming recruits.
