Avengers: Endgame actress Emma Fuhrmann reacts to the news that she has been recast in Ant-Man & The Wasp: QuantumaniaCassie Lang first appeared in Ant-Man and was played by Abby Ryder Fortson, who returned for Ant-Man & The Wasp in 2018. When Hank Pym, Janet, and Hope van Dyne were snapped away by Thanos, Scott Lang was trapped in the Quantum Realm for five years. When Lang is finally freed in 2023, he goes back home to find his daughter, played by Fuhrmann, who is all grown up.

Up until Disney Investor Day 2020, not a whole lot was known about Ant-Man 3. Not only was the subtitle of the film revealedbut it was also announced that Jonathan Majors will be playing Kang the Conquerer, both of which contain clues to what Scott Lang will be up to in the next Ant-Man adventure. While it wasn't a big surprise that Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer were returning for the sequel, it was a bit of a shock that Fuhrmann was being replaced as Cassie Lang by actress Kathryn Newton. Now, Fuhrmann has reacted to the casting news.

Fuhrmann recently took to Twitter to respond to the news that she would not be appearing in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania. Fuhrmann expressed her appreciation for fans that reached out to her in support, while also revealing that she too found out the recasting news on Thursday. Fuhrmann's emotional tweet can be read below:

While it is surely sad news for the actress, Fuhrmann seems to be in good spirit about not returning for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania. This isn't the first time Marvel has recast a role either. In fact, the studio has recast much larger roles such as the Hulk (Edward Norton to Mark Ruffalo), James Rhodes (Terrence Howard to Don Cheadle), and even Thanos himself (Damion Poitier to Josh Brolin). Fuhrmann expressed hope that she might be given another role in the MCU, but unfortunately, that is unlikely to happen.

Much like the title and villain reveal hint at Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania's story, bringing Newton in for the sequel could mean Cassie will have a bigger role in the movie. While both Fuhrmann and Newton are up and coming actresses, Newton has a bit more experiences with summer blockbusters. Two of Newton's most notable roles are in Detective Pikachu and the recent film Freaky with Vince Vaughn. The actress also appeared in the Academy Award-winning film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. While there was certainly nothing wrong with Fuhrmann's performance in Avengers: Endgame, Disney might feel a bit more comfortable going with a more experienced actress if they plan to expand Cassie's role in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania.
