Anthony Stewart Head, who played Rupert Giles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has gone on to have a prominent career in both film and television since the TV show ended.

Giles served as Buffy's most-trusted advisor, her Watcher, who ended up morphing into a father figure. While they did have their ups and downs, Giles was Buffy's rock through her toughest time, and thwarted many an apocalypse at her side. Through him, Buffy was educated in the ways of vampires, demons, and the forces of darkness. Though much older than her friends, Giles' wisdom was always there in a pinch to steer the other members of the Scooby Gang out of harm's way. Because of his role on the series, Anthony Stewart Head is one of the most-beloved cast members as well, as many fans who grew up with the show look up to Giles as well.

A talented actor, Head went on to star in both film and television roles, typically steering his body of work toward British film and television, though not exclusively. Though fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will always see him as Giles, here's what the actor has moved on toward since the series ended.

What Anthony Stewart Head Has Done After Buffy The Vampire Slayer Ended

A man holds a large needle from Repo The Genetic Opera

Anthony Stewart Head's acting career technically started long before his days on Buffy. Primarily, Head focused on television, with many roles that spanned from the late '70s onward. It wasn't until 1997 when Head got his break on Buffy, though he was certainly no stranger to television as a medium. After Buffy ended in 2003, Head played Chester in Monarch of the Glen and lent his vocal talents to an animated Buffy TV movie and a video game. In 2005, he starred alongside Piper Perabo and Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey in the romantic-comedy, Imagine Me & You. From 2003-2006, he starred on British comedy Little Britain as the Prime Minister.

Though a niche film, Darren Lynn Bousman's Repo! The Genetic Opera has an incredible cult following, and is often heralded as The Rocky Horror Picture show for the millennial generation. Often acted out during midnight performances in the same stead, fans were treated to the actor's vocal stylings along with his acting as Nathan, the Repo Man himself. Head both played and sang a prominently-featured role alongside Sarah Brightman and Alexa Vega. One of the Saw director's quirkier projects, Repo! was a sensation in specific crowds, but only holds a 40% rating of Rotten Tomatoes as of this writing.

From 2008-2012, Head took on the role of Uther Pendragon in BBC's series, Merlin, which explored Arthurian legend and the days of young Merlin. After that, Head played the role of Chiron in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. Most recently, he can be seen on Netflix's series, The Stranger. More than a decade after Buffy the Vampire Slayer has ended, Head's ability to deliver strong, nuanced characters is still being featured on television.
