Everything We Know About Bill Murray's Role In Ant-Man 3

Bill Murray in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Not much is currently known about Lord Krylar, and there's a very good reason for this. To date, he has only one appearance ever in Marvel Comics. This came in The Incredible Hulk #156, where he existed in the sub-atomic universe known as the Microverse - the suspected comic equivalent of Ant-Man's Quantum Realm - where the Hulk became trapped and fell in love with Princess Jarella. Her niece, another little-known comics character by the name of Jentorra, is also confirmed to be appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, played by Katy O'Brian. Lord Krylar is an arms dealer as well as a scientist in the comic, and he has built a machine that manifests its user's deepest fears.

The use of such an obscure Marvel Comics character, especially one unrelated to Ant-Man, is an interesting choice for the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania creatives to make. However, the fact that they have cast such a big name as Murray to portray him only points to his "crucial role," as has been noted by director Peyton Reed. It's unlikely that the Hulk will appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania - though Rudd has recently alluded to surprising cameos featuring in the film - meaning that Lord Krylar's role may be very different from that of his single comic appearance, where he died as quickly as he was introduced. His weapons dealing could turn out to be crucial in the fight against Kang the Conqueror.

Reed also notes Lord Krylar as a figure of Janet Van Dyne's past, meaning he could link to Kang in some way given that Janet also seems to have history with the MCU's new big bad. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to delve deep into Janet's role as a "freedom fighter" when stuck in the Quantum Realm, and this will surely unearth her past actions. In turn, this will reveal Lord Krylar's larger role in the story, and perhaps beyond; it is possible that, being a Hulk character originally, he may well encounter Bruce Banner at some point.
