Though there's plenty of Marvel Cinematic Universe content to watch on Disney+, including Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man & The Wasp is one of 7 superhero films missing from the recently launched streaming service. While the first Ant-Man film is already available on Disney+ and hard-hitters like Thor: Ragnarok will be added soon, fans will have to wait until next year for Ant-Man & The Wasp to land.

Ant-Man's journey hasn't been a smooth one. Petty thief turned superhero Scott Lang's appearances always add value to other MCU films, but his two solo movies have stumbled both with critics and at the box office. Ant-Man & The Wasp was the worst-performing movie in the whole MCU phase 3 slate and, much like the first Ant-Man instalment, is generally deemed as quite forgettable. Despite lukewarm reviews, a third Ant-Man film has been confirmed and is likely to hit cinemas in 2022.

Ant-Man & The Wasp sets up the beginning of Avengers: Endgame, so it would make sense for the movie to be on Disney+. However, the Ant-Man sequel was the latest MCU film to be added on Netflix as part of the streaming service's old deal with Disney. As a result, Ant-Man & The Wasp won't hit Disney+ until July 29, 2020. That means that fans have a while to wait before they can watch Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly don their time and space-bending super suits on Disney+.

Ant-Man and Wasp in Avengers Damage Control

Though little is known about the confirmed Ant-Man 3, Ant-Man and Ant-Man & The Wasp director Peyton Reed is set to return, as are Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly in the lead roles. In fact, the pair's comedic talent is one of the franchise's redeeming features. Ant-Man & The Wasp and Avengers: Endgame established the characters' budding romance, so there will be ample opportunity for even more size-related banter between the two.

Ant-Man & The Wasp also opened up a lot of possibilities now that Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) wife Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) is back from the Quantum Realm. Though Hank and Janet were missing from Avengers: Endgame's epic final battle scene, the couple will return for Ant-Man 3. It would make sense for the movie to explore the potential consequences of Janet's 30 year-long stint in the barely explored alternate dimension. Plus, her return will undoubtedly have an effect on the Pym family dynamic. It's been just Hank and Hope for so long, it wouldn't be surprising if Janet's return threw a bit of a spanner in the works.

As well as plenty of comedy relief, Ant-Man 3 might also follow its predecessor's footsteps and hint at what's next for the MCU as a whole. The first Ant-Man movie featured a post-credit scene from Captain America: Civil War, while Ant-Man & The Wasp set up Avengers: Endgame. At this point, however, Ant-Man 3's plot is anyone's guess. That only means there's all the more reason to get excited about Ant-Man & The Wasp's release on Disney+ in July next year, as a rewatch might offer clues as to what's next in store for Scott Lang and the Pyms.
