Ant-Man has been a hot topic among Marvel fans for years, especially with director Edgar Wright's longtime involvement in the project. Things have changed along the way, but now that the film is just a few months from release, public awareness of the tiniest Avenger is about to explode.
The Marvel marketing machine has already kicked into high gear. In addition to the first trailer, fans have already gotten their first look of star Paul Rudd in costume as well as a number of potentially revealing images from the film.
Now, courtesy of EW, some more images have hit the web, including several shots of Rudd both in and out of costume. The gallery includes several shots that look like they are directly lifted from the trailer, such as an image of the film's title hero riding an ant and better shots of supporting players Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly.
However, the most intriguing new image in the bunch is the first officially released image of Corey Stoll's character Yellowjacket in costume. We've known for a while that Ant-Man would face off against the character in the film, and some recent promo art gave fans a closer look at what the Marvel villain would look like onscreen. Still, the new concept art of the character's yellow and black multi-limbed ensemble provides the best glimpse of his design and remains relatively close to the broader strokes of its comic book counterpart, while still updating it to technology that looks like it came straight from Stark Industries.
Some purists may balk at the liberties that Reed and his team have taken with the suit designs for Ant-Man and his nemesis, but grounding the character's fantastical world in cutting-edge technology and a sleek, modern color scheme may go a long way toward making the out-there idea of an insect-themed superhero a lot easier to swallow. After all, Ant-Man is perhaps the most obscure title Marvel Studios has attempted to bring to the screen thus far, with the notable exception of Guardians of the Galaxy (read our feature for more on Ant-Man).
