The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer gives a good summary of the film's Kang story, but proves that Ant-Man has taken Star-Lord's spot as the MCU's most selfish Avenger. Guardians of the Galaxy's Star-Lord has been under fire since Avengers: Infinity War, accused of causing harm to those around him due to selfish actions. However, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is setting up a truly selfish story for Scott Lang, meaning that Ant-Man may be relieving Star-Lord of his title.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the third film in the Ant-Man series, this time introducing Kang the Conqueror as the next big MCU villain.

According to trailer footage, Ant-Man looks like he will be working with Kang during Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, potentially meaning he sets Kang up for his future villainous plans. This is easily the most selfish act by an Avenger since Star-Lord's bad decision in Avengers: Infinity War, but Ant-Man's actions are so much worse.

Scott's Kang Deal Makes Him Worse Than Star-Lord In The MCU

After Avengers: Infinity War, social media blasted Star-Lord over a selfish decision. While the superheroes have Thanos pinned on Titan, with the Infinity Gauntlet nearly removed, Star-Lord attacks Thanos in a fit of rage after finding out about Gamora's death. Star-Lord's attack allows Thanos to escape, giving him time to kill half the universe. Although the Star-Lord mistake in Infinity War was bad, it is understandable. He was attacking Thanos due to heat-of-the-moment grief, with love for Gamora clouding his judgment in that instant. Ant-Man's mistake, on the other hand, is almost irredeemable.

The trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania reveals that Ant-Man will be working for Kang in exchange for the ability to relive the time he lost with Cassie before Avengers: Endgame. Unlike Star-Lord, who was still actually attacking the villain, Ant-Man will be directly helping Kang, assisting his plans of multiversal conquest. On top of that, Star-Lord's mistake occurred right as he found out about Gamora's death, meaning he would not be thinking straight. Ant-Man, on the other hand, is years out from having lost Cassie, meaning Scott has had plenty of time to come to his senses. These two factors are what make Ant-Man so much worse than Star-Lord.

Scott Lang's Guilt Could Be His Next Big Story (If He Survives Ant-Man 3)

Potentially, Ant-Man working for Kang may be due to him not knowing how dangerous the villain truly is. When he realizes this, Scott is sure to experience some serious guilt. Scott's realization that he could have stopped Kang may provide Ant-Man's next big character arc, similar to Thor's grief and regret in Avengers: Endgame over not aiming for Thanos' head. Scott will have to go through some big, uncomfortable emotions before forgiving himself for working with Kang, hinting at a potentially fascinating MCU story.

However, this story can only happen if Scott Lang is alive long enough to regret his decision. A popular Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantuamania fan theory states that the film will feature Kang the Conqueror killing Ant-Man, with certain shots in the trailer directly hinting toward this. If it does happen, Scott Lang's death could be the price he pays for his selfish decisions in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
