Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness has the perfect response to the movie's recent delay. Announced back in 2019, Quantumania will serve as the third MCU movie centered on Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Hope van Dyne/the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly). Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but based on the title and other developments within the MCU, it will likely continue to grapple with the Quantum Realm and the multiverse. Peyton Reed has returned to direct, while other familiar faces within the cast include Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Filming on Ant-Man 3 commenced earlier this summer and is just over halfway through now. For some time, there was debate over whether the movie would debut in late 2022 or afterwards, but Marvel put the matter to rest when it scheduled Ant-Man 3 for February 2023. However, following yesterday's massive schedule reshuffling, which saw six 2022-2023 Marvel movies delayedAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania now won't arrive in theaters until July 2023. The Marvels, once planned for next year, will now arrive in its previous February spot.

Loveness, who has penned the script for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, took the movie's delay in stride. In fact, he even saw fit to joke about it on social media. "Not sure why you would push this but ok???" he wrote on Monday. Attached was a picture of an Ant-Man 3 "script page," which sees Scott insist on going smaller than ever, much to the dismay of an ant. "Say I am your Christ," Scott demands. Talk about a sudden character shift!

Loveness' actual Ant-Man 3 script was recently praised by Lilly, who suggested it could be the Marvel franchise's best yet. She also said it's helped her understand Hope more after spending years unable to crack her. Therefore, fans have reason to be excited about what lies ahead for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. In addition to the returning stars, the movie will feature Kathryn Newton as the new Cassie Lang and Jonathan Majors as supervillain Kang the Conqueror. Majors made his MCU debut this summer on Loki, but he wasn't playing Kang at the time.

With Ant-Man 3 getting pushed farther out into 2023, the wait for major updates regarding its story and cast likely just got much longer. There are currently seven MCU movies scheduled before Quantumania, so fans shouldn't expect any kind of trailer or plot synopsis for a while. That might be a bit of a blow to some, but it sounds like this will be a movie that's well worth the wait. After all, Loveness clearly has some rather... interesting things ahead for Scott. Fans better buckle up.
