Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania's ugly bunny tease from director Peyton Reed could set up the new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. The Ant-Man franchise has repeatedly held some of the more lighthearted entries in the MCU. Paul Rudd's Scott Lang leads the comedic take on the size-changing hero, with the movies not playing as large of a role in the overall shared universe storyline. However, Marvel Studios has put Ant-Man 3 in a position to change that.

The third film in the Ant-Man franchise will once again star Rudd and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne aka Wasp. After some wondered whether or not another entry was needed, Marvel announced that Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) would appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This was before Majors debuted as He Who Remains in Loki's finale. Furthermore, it was revealed that Marvel recast the role of Cassie Lang, with Kathryn Newton replacing Emma Fuhrmann in a move that should speed up the formation of the Young Avengers. Details on Ant-Man 3's story are being kept under lock and key, though.

Director Peyton Reed recently announced that filming was underway on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but the first look image he provided was a surprising one. It features the ugly bunny stuffed animal Scott gave Cassie for her birthday during the first movie. The ugly bunny toy appears to be in a scientific lab, with testing tubs and a case for hazardous materials clearly seen around it. This might seem like a random, non-spoilery tease of Ant-Man 3 at first, but it could reveal more it initially appears to. For instance, the movie's working title is "Dust Bunny," which could emphasize the importance of the bunny itself or what it means. And when it comes to looking for a meaning behind the bunny, the answer likely lies with Cassie Lang's increased role.

Ant-Man Scott Lang's Daughter Cassie Lang aka Stature

Cassie had small roles in the first two Ant-Man movies and was then aged up during Avengers: Endgame's five-year time jump. Marvel's decision to bring Kathryn Newton aboard to play the older Cassie is a good sign that she'll get an even bigger role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which now looks even more likely after the bunny tease. In fact, the bunny tease and working title could highlight how Cassie's story has evolved since Ant-Man and the Wasp. She was without her father for five years after Thanos' snap, which turned half of life across the universe into dust. That puts the Dust Bunny working title in a new perspective potentially and adds another tease of Cassie Lang becoming a superhero in Ant-Man 3.

It is widely expected that Cassie Lang will take on one of her hero identities - such as Stature or Stinger - in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The ugly bunny's placement in a science lab could even be a hint that she's working on experiments to give her powers. This even could have been done in the past theoretically. With her father presumed dead for five years, perhaps Cassie created her own suit and used the Pym Particles to become her own version of Ant-Man. In any case, the ugly bunny tease for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania appears to be Reed teasing the important role Cassie will play.
