If Michael Douglas is to be believed, news regarding Ant-Man 3 could be coming soon. Like his father before him, Michael Douglas is a legend in Hollywood. From his early days on The Streets of San Francisco to his heyday as a Hollywood leading man, Douglas quickly cemented himself as a power player in the film and television industries, a fact to which his Academy Awards, Golden Globes, and Emmy can attest.

In recent years, Douglas is best known for his role in the MCU, playing the hot-headed Dr. Hank Pym in the acclaimed Ant-Man films. Across the two Ant-Man movies and a brief supporting role in Avengers: Endgame, Douglas has become an endearing figure in Marvel's Cinematic Universe, and audiences are eager to learn when he – and the rest of the Ant-Man cast – will return for further adventures.

While broadcasting a Q&A session on Instagram (captured by Ant-Man News on Twitter), the conversation inevitably turned to his tenure in the Marvel movies. When asked about Ant-Man 3, Douglas stopped short of revealing information, suggesting Marvel might send someone to shoot him in the neck with a blowgun if he speaks out of turn. However, he did tease the idea of Marvel Studios announcing something soon, and that eager fans should "hang tight."

Ant-Man 3 is in development at Marvel Studios, but the MCU is keeping its plans somewhat guarded compared to previous eras in the studio's history. The MCU slate is only clear through 2022, with the shorter Phase 4 expected to deal with the fallout from Avengers: Endgame, much in the way Phase 2 (and the various Netflix shows) were set in the aftermath of the Battle of New York as seen in 2012's The Avengers. Director Payton Reed is set to return for Ant-Man 3, and Rick & Morty scribe Jeff Loveness has been brought on board to craft the script, but the film is currently without a release date.

Traditionally, Ant-Man films have always released in the immediate wake of an Avengers team-up movie. Thanks to their comparatively lower stakes and more comedic sensibilities, the Ant-Man movies serve as effective counter-programming to the epic and grandiose Avengers movies, cleansing the palate in time for the next big film. It's unknown if Ant-Man 3 will continue to follow this pattern or if Marvel Studios will attempt something new with the franchise. Either way, audiences around the world are eagerly awaiting the continued adventures of Ant-Man, The Wasp, Luis, and the rest of the gang.
