Michelle Pfeiffer hints that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania could explore a complex relationship between Janet van Dyne and Kang. Kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe's hotly anticipated Phase 5, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania marks the third standalone adventure for Paul Rudd's Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne. Set to welcome back Jonathan Major's Kang following his debut in Disney+'s Loki, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will also see Kathryn Newton make her exciting debut as Cassie Lang, alongside returning MCU star Michael Douglas as Hank Pym.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Pfeiffer offered an interesting new tease for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and her character, Janet van Dyne's role. Remaining coy for fear of spoiling too much, Pfeiffer discussed how she was excited to meet Majors while filming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, before revealing that she shared a lot of scenes with Majors. The star, understandably, refused to reveal any more, sharing that she isn't confident about what she is and isn't allowed to say. Check out Pfeiffer's full quote below.

Actually I was really excited to work with Jonathan Majors, he’s in Ant-Man and a lot of our scenes are together and it's interesting, this one is… I don’t know what I’m allowed to say. They give you a whole list of what you can’t say but not anything what you can say.

Janet van Dyne Will Have A Bigger Role In Ant-Man 3

Pfeiffer's role as Janet van Dyne within the MCU has brought very little exploration of this exciting character thus far. It's previously been discussed how Janet was trapped within the Quantum Realm after she sacrificed herself during a S.H.I.E.L.D. mission. Hank had desperately been seeking a way to bring his wife back from the Quantum Realm, finally succeeding in doing so in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Since then, Pfeiffer's van Dyne has featured briefly in Avengers: Endgame, although Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to see her role expanded in a big way.

The first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania offered cryptic glimpses at what lies ahead in the MCU's Phase 5 opener, with Janet confessing that there are things she hadn't revealed to her family about her time within the Quantum Realm. With this in mind, there's a major possibility that Janet's time within the Quantum Realm will be a focal point of the film and with Kang also set to cause chaos for Scott and company, it's not hard to imagine how these two storylines could converge. Janet's knowledge of Kang is heavily implied in the trailer, leading many to wonder just what sort of relationship Janet had with Kang and why she refrained from revealing his existence to her family.

Pfeiffer's confirmation that she shares a number of scenes with Majors is likely to excite many, though isn't entirely shocking when you consider the potential stakes the team might face in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Much of what lies ahead, naturally, remains a mystery at this point in time, though there isn't too long to go now until audiences get their first taste of what Phase 5 will bring. With a big future approaching for Kang, Janet's knowledge and evident fear of this powerful new villain is likely to be only the tip of the iceberg of what lies ahead.
