Gamora may be responsible for the events of Ant-Man 3. During Disney’s Investor Day presentation on December 10, 2020, Marvel’s Kevin Feige revealed the official title for the film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and finally confirmed Lovecraft Country actor Jonathan Majors' addition to the cast, which already includes Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michelle Pfeiffer. More importantly, Majors was cast to play the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror and it’s possible that Gamora’s arc from Avengers: Endgame will play a role in his arrival.

The Gamora fans had grown to love was tragically killed in Avengers: Infinity War after Thanos sacrificed her life by throwing her over the cliff on Vormir to obtain the Soul Stone. In Avengers: Endgame, the Gamora from 2014 was brought to 2023 (five years after Infinity War) alongside the past versions of Thanos and her sister Nebula, who had stolen the present-day Nebula’s time traveling particle device (yes, it’s pretty headache-inducing to sort through). After changing sides, Gamora helped the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Avengers defeat her father. In a deleted Endgame scene, it’s revealed that Gamora stayed in the present, walking away to an unknown location following Iron Man’s death.

In the comics, Kang the Conqueror was born Nathaniel Richards, a 31st century scholar who’s rather obsessed with time travel. Eventually, the egotistical and powerful villain begins traveling back and forth through time in a bid to conquer Earth and other planets throughout various centuries and timelines. From the title, it can be gleaned that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will further explore the quantum realm, a dimension that can be utilized to achieve time travel through particle shrinking. Perhaps Kang will find himself traveling back to 2023 by way of the quantum realm, drawn to investigate the time period because of Gamora’s displacement.

There’s no way to tell how Kang the Conqueror will connect to the story in Quantumania or the events that lead to his arrival in the present. However, considering that Kang wants to essentially control time, Gamora’s existence outside of the natural chronology could anger him. If he arrives to figure out how she ended up in a future where she doesn’t belong, it could also lead Kang to learn that the Avengers have effectively unlocked the secrets of time travel. Not wanting any competition, the events of Endgame could play a role in the villain's plans and he may go so far as to find and kill Ant-Man and the rest of the superheroes for daring to tread in his time travel domain.

There’s no doubt that time travel and the multiverse will be playing major roles in Phase Four and Phase Five of the MCU. If Kang’s arrival in Ant-Manand the Wasp: Quantumania is directly linked to Gamora’s time displacement from Endgame, it works as a perfect segue to the villain’s potential vendetta against Ant-Man, who came up with the idea to use the quantum realm for time travel purposes in the film. What’s more, Kang is too crucial a villain to simply be a one-off. It’s possible that Gamora’s presence in 2023 will only be the start of what fans see of Kang, whose introduction in Ant-Man 3 could pave the way to a larger MCU storyline.
