Michelle Pfeiffer is the latest cast member confirmed to return for Ant-Man 3, as she reveals the Marvel film's tentative production start date in a new interview. The Paul Rudd-starring franchise has always been considered a smaller player within the greater MCU, but that hasn't stopped development on a third Ant-Man movie. Ant-Man 3 was officially announced to be moving forward at Marvel in November of last year, with Peyton Reed once again directing. Much of the film remains under wraps, from the plot to its release date. Reportedly, though Marvel is considering a 2022 premiere.

It's certain Rudd will once again play Scott Lang in Ant-Man 3, and Evangeline Lilly is expected to return as Hope van Dyne, particularly since the previous installment, Ant-Man and the Wasp, brought her into the title. Beyond those two, Michael Douglas will be back as Hank Pym, and Jonathan Majors joined the cast in September. Reports suggest he'll be playing Kang the Conqueror. Now, the legendary Pfeiffer appears to be the latest confirmed for Ant-Man 3.

While appearing on the podcast Ladies First with Laura Brown, Pfeiffer revealed she's set for Ant-Man 3. "I'm supposed to do Ant-Man, the third one," Pfeiffer said in response to the question of if she has anything coming up. She then went on to share she believes production will start in the spring of 2021. As for where Ant-Man 3 will find her character Janet van Dyne, Pfeiffer could only say, "I don't know."

Janet Van Dyne in Ant-Man and the Wasp

It isn't too surprising that Pfeiffer will once again play Janet for Ant-Man 3, seeing as Ant-Man and the Wasp largely revolved on rescuing her from the Quantum Realm. Pfeiffer ultimately had a small part in that film, and a role in Ant-Man 3 would give her the opportunity to develop Janet even further. After spending years in the Quantum Realm, Janet is bound to have changed somehow, and Ant-Man 3 can focus on her settling back into everyday life. She was last seen attending Tony Stark's funeral in Avengers: Endgame; that Pfeiffer turned up for a wordless cameo certainly indicates she'll be sticking around.

As for Pfeiffer's other bit of news, Ant-Man 3 still looks like it could arrive in 2022. Though there have been varying dates tossed around for when Ant-Man 3 will start filming, a spring 2021 start would give it plenty of time to complete production ahead of 2022. The only thing that could disrupt this plan is the coronavirus pandemic, which has altered many filming schedules. However, as Marvel is currently filming Spider-Man 3Hawkeye, and Ms. Marvel, it seems likely that Ant-Man 3 will be okay to start on time. Perhaps by then, more cast members will be confirmed for Scott Lang's third solo adventure.
