The Ant-Man & The Wasp official cast list teases the possible villain for the third Ant-Man movie with the possible introduction of Egghead. The 20th Marvel Studios movie and the company's final project of the year, the Peyton Reed-directed flick will see the return of Paul Rudd's unconventional hero in a brand new mission. This time, however, he's joined by a more capable partner in Evangeline Lily's the Wasp. The two, together with Michael Douglas' Hank Pym, attempt to save Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet van Dyne from the Quantum Realm, where she has been trapped for ages.

Thanks to the release of the full cast list for Ant-Man & The Wasp, fans now have a better sense of what to expect from the movie, including a flashback involving a young Hank, Janet, Hope and Bill Foster. The mysterious villain who goes by the name Ghost (Hannah John Kamen) also gets a first name: Ava. That all said, it looks look like there's another clue regarding the Marvel sub-franchise's future.

The cast list apparently also included Michael Cerveris playing the role of Elihas Starr as noted by ComicBookMovie. Comic book readers would be familiar with the name as the character also goes by the alias, Egghead. The character who has been around since 1962 is mainly known as a villain to Hank Pym's incarnation of Ant-Man.  This detail poses the possibility of the villain getting a brief introduction in the forthcoming sequel only to be back in the third movie and become the story's primary bad guy.

If not the main antagonist for Ant-Man 3, Elihas Starr can be the secret main villain for the sequel. Up until now, Walton Goggins' low-level criminal character, Sonny Burch, has felt out of place in the movie. The previews have prominently featured a car chase across San Francisco that seemingly ended up on the Bay while Burch was aboard the ferry and cradling Hank Pym's portable office. Tying Goggins' character to Starr - who in the comics has long shown interest in the Pym Tech, so much so that he even tried stealing it, fits the narrative perfectly.

Shall this be the case, it's going to be interesting if Starr is poised to be a bigger threat or is nothing more than a throwaway villain. After all, recent Marvel films tend to introduce a preliminary bad guy in their movies - Black Panther's Klaue, Thor: Ragnarok's Grandmaster (sort of) - before the heroes face the ultimate villain in the third act. But frankly, Marvel would be better off with a different main villain for Ant-Man 3. The first film already dealt with an evil tech guy trying to use Pym Tech for his own personal gain in Darren Cross, it would be great to see a foe with a different motivation.
