Anna Faris has been on our screens for decades and has become one of the most recognizable female comedic actors of our generation. Although she is currently busy with her TV show Mom, Faris is also a prolific movie actress, most notably for her roles in films like The House Bunny and the Scary Movie Franchise.

However, like many actors and actresses, she has had a few really good roles and also some really bad ones. Therefore, in order to celebrate her career, we have put together a list of her five best and five worst movie roles, according to IMDb. A quick note, in order to make sure that this list is accurate, movies with the same ratings have been ranked according to their user ratings.

BEST: Waiting (2005) - 6.8

Anna Faris was already starting to make her mark in movies when she starred in the raunchy comedy, Waiting. Starring alongside Justin Long and Ryan Reynolds, she played one of the misfits who worked at Shenaniganz restaurant.

Although this typical early 2000's film didn't wow critics, the movie was a commercial success and it easily doubled its budget in its opening weekend.

WORST: Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (2009) - 4.5

After the relative success of the 2007 film, Alvin and the Chipmunks, it was assumed that its sequel would be of the same caliber. However, this was certainly not the case. As the Chipmunks go back to school, they are introduced to the Chipettes, an all-female chipmunk singing group, one of which is voiced by Faris.

Unfortunately, the film was just not that funny and lacked some of the adventure and action of the first movie. Nonetheless, the film was a massive commercial success, so perhaps Faris doesn't feel too bad about it.

BEST: Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs (2009) - 6.9

Everybody loves a good kids movie and none have been as unique as Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs. Based on a children's book from the 1970s, it follows the story of Flint Lockwood (Bill Hader), a young, ambitious scientist who creates a machine that turns water into food.

Anna Faris perfectly voiced Sam Sparks, a nerdy former weather intern and Flint's love interest who, together, end up saving the town. Funny and a little off-center, the film is one of Faris' most successful animated films.

WORST: Alvin And The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (2011) - 4.3

In the case of singing Chipmunks, it seems that no matter how bad the movie actually is, it will still make a lot of money, and the third movie in this franchise is no exception. In this film, the Chipmunks and the Chipettes find themselves marooned on an island.

Seemingly a flat and less funny parody of the other films, it was seemingly far from the first film's excellence. Yet, the movie was adored by younger kids and it even won the 2012 Kid's Choice Award for Favourite Movie.

BEST: Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel (2009) - 7.1

Over the years, time travel movies have been a dime a dozen and Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel is just another one of them. Set in a pub in the UK, the movie follows a group of sci-fi fans as they try to get out of the time-travel trap.

Faris plays a beautiful American time-traveler from the future who discovers a time leak in the pub. Also starring former IT Crowd alum, Chris O'Dowd, the film was a fun and unique take on the time travel genre.

WORST: Movie 43 (2013) - 4.3

Often cited as one of the worst movies ever made, Movie 43 is perhaps also the weirdest. It inexplicably stars a range of famous actors that included, among others, Hugh Jackman, Kristen Bell, and Uma Thurman, in an anthology of bizarre, shameless, and genuinely confusing comedy shorts.

Faris stars alongside her then-husband Chris Pratt as the couple Julie and Doug, who try to spice up their relationship after Doug asks Julie to marry him. Very weird and definitely not for the faint of heart, it is still a surprise to many that this film was even made.

BEST: Brokeback Mountain (2005) - 7.7

Brokeback Mountain is easily one of the most critically and commercially successful films of the early 2000s. Following the hidden and forbidden relationship between two cowboys, Ennis del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal), the movie became one of the cornerstones of queer cinema.

Faris had a small role as Lashawn Malone, the wife of the man Jack has a relationship with. Although she didn't have a large role in the movie, it was quite notable and she executed it perfectly.

WORST: Lover's Lane (1999) - 4.0

Based on the urban legend of The Hookman, Lover's Lane was one of Anna Faris' first real major roles. The film was far from successful and is often described as a basic slasher film.

However, the movie is actually well-liked by fans of the traditional slasher genre. More importantly, Faris was considered one of the bright sparks in this movie and it is easy to see why she was the perfect choice for her role in the Scary Movie franchise.

BEST: Lost In Translation (2003) - 7.7

Unfortunately for Anna Faris, many of her best movies are not the ones in which she plays the leading lady. Lost In Translation is one such example.

Directed by Sofia Coppola, the comedy-drama follows the friendship between a middle-aged actor, Bob Harris (Bill Murray), and the much-younger Charlotte (Scarlett Johannsson), while staying in a hotel in Toyko. Faris plays the role of a bubbly actress and friend of Charlotte's husband and brings some lightheartedness and silliness to the movie.

WORST: The Emoji Movie (2017) - 3.2

Over the years, there have been a variety of epic animated movies but unfortunately, The Emoji Movie is often cited as the worst ever made. Faris voices one of the lead characters, Jailbreak, a hacker emoji who helps Gene Meh (TJ Miller) to get to the Cloud.

The movie can be best described as an extra-long commercial that does not have the wit to adequately deal with its premise. Therefore, it is easy to see why it is the worst on this list. However, like many of Faris' animated movies, the movie was a massive commercial success.
