The nominees for the 2023 Anime Awards have been announced by Crunchyroll. From the year's best anime to the best anime song, there are several categories and incredible nominees. Fans are now able to vote for their favorites and see which anime will be competing against each other to be crowned the victor in each category.

The nominees, included on Crunchyroll's award-specific link, include many well-known series as well as some that may be a little less familiar. Each category has six nominees for fans to choose from, with a total of twenty-two categories including best original anime, best new series, best contiuing series, best opening, best ending, and best film. Anime of the year is a heated competition between Attack on Titan, Spy x Family, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Demon Slayer, Lycrois Recoil, and Ranking of Kings.

This year, Spy x Family is leading the pack with seventeen nominations. It is followed by Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, both of which were nominated in twelve categories. Closely following are Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc and Ranking of Kings with eleven nominated categories. My Dress Up Darling garnered eight nominations and is closely followed by Lycoris Recoil, which has seven. All in all, there is a lot of variety in this year's nominations, giving anime fans lots of options for series to try if they haven't dived in yet. Voting is open now and will close January 25 at 5p.m. (PT).

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and One Piece Film Red are both in the running for best film, and each has another nomination in differing categories. Other nominated series in the awards include Lycoris Recoil, My Dress-Up Darling, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Stone Ocean, and Ya Boy Kongming! The shonen vampire series Call of the Night garnered a few nominations amid the many categories and Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Ultra Romantic - did also. This year's categories include Best Film, Best Score, Best Anime Song, Best Opening and Ending Sequences, and a variety of character-centric categories.

Fans looking for new anime might want to take a look at the genre-specific categories, as there are divisions for Best Action, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, and Romance. Dub and sub-performances are also being evaluated as there is a category for best voice artist performances in both Japanese and English. With so many divisions, it's no wonder that so many incredible titles have been included in the nominees this year. Competing with One Piece and Dragon Ball for Best Film are Bubble, Inu-Oh, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and The Deer King. Numerous studios have contenders this year, with projects from MAPPA, Toei Animation, Production I.G., Science SARU, WIT STUDIO, and TRIGGER, ufotable, and CloverWorks, among others.

This year's award categories have sections for anime fans who love music, animation, and character design, with several deserving anime vying for the many crowns. Fans can - and should - vote in Crunchyroll's 2023 Anime Awards now.
