An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player shared a creation this week that will undoubtedly be familiar to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild fans: a recreation of the game's eerie Lost Woods entrance. This classic game crossover is the latest example of the Animal Crossing community' creativity. Since the game's 2020 launch, players have taken to the internet to share intricate designs and recreations of their favorite pop culture locales; and with its latest 2.0 update and release of the DLC Happy Home Paradise, ACNH players have been given even more items to decorate with.

The 2.0 update vastly expanded the items players can buy and craft, with over 9,000 new ACNH items added to New Horizons. These additions have opened up lots of new design opportunities for players, allowing for many new ways to decorate their towns. The Lost Woods is a key location in Breath of the Wild: it serves as protection for the Korok Forest, where Link is able to acquire the famous Master Sword. Shrouded in fog, getting through the Lost Woods is no simple feat - the player must move through carefully lest they be teleported back to the entrance.

Twitter user naydinfar shared their Breath of the Wild tribute this week with an excellent recreation of the Lost Woods. Utilizing new Animal Crossing DIY recipes, the user was able to perfectly recreate the spooky, foreboding nature of the entrance with decaying trees and a decrepit stone arch. The surrounding area is filled with carefully placed weeds, where the player took care to place flowering weeds exactly where similar flowers appear in Breath of the Wild. To add to the ambiance of their shot, navdinfar waited to capture a photo of their Zelda-costume-clad character until a day when it was both snowing and foggy on their island, mimicking the Lost Woods' in-game environment.

In their caption, naydinfar mentions they're "hoping to get some sequel news at the [Game] [Awards]," which broadcasts December 9. There is speculation more information about the Breath of the Wild sequel will be revealed at the Game Awards, something fans of the series have been clamoring for since the next installment's announcement at E3 in 2019. The awards show featured surprise game announcements in previous years - some of which were from Nintendo - making some hopeful they'll finally get more information about the future of the series.

This impressive fan creation is a stunning tribute that both Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing fans can appreciate. While Animal Crossing has an active base of creators sharing their work, the latest update and its new item additions seem to allow player creativity to flourish even more than before. Over a year after the game's release, Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans are still finding new and impressive ways to decorate their islands.
