While the well-established doomsday prepper - with a person who turns out to have a shelter in their basement with mountains of canned food - is common enough in TV, Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers might come up in such flavors too. There are 397 villagers in New Horizons series, so at least a few of them are bound to have doomsday on their mind. And figuring out if one's island holds one of these doomsday preppers could be handy information, down the line.

The adoration for and aversion to certain Animal Crossing villagers has been well documented since New Horizon's release. Raymond, in particular, made headlines for the prices he was fetching on the black market. But there's no way Raymond is a Doomsday prepper - he's much too practical. He's likely very busy filling out paperwork.

Of course, doomsday prepping doesn't necessarily mean someone is preparing for the eventuality of Fallout-type events. A doomsday prepper could be worried about natural disasters, a financial collapse, or even a zombie apocalypse. As these villagers likely know, an apocalypse could take many forms.

Animal Crossing Villager Octavian Preps For A Space Doomsday

Octavian inside his House in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Octavian, one of the three coveted octopus villagers in New Horizons, is already hiding his preparedness for the apocalypse in plain sight. Octavian's house contains a spaceship, a UFO, a spacesuit, and a satellite. If anything were to go down, he already has the necessary tools to leave the planet entirely. What other reason could he possibly have to accrue such expensive furniture? He doesn't seem to mention an affinity for space travel, certainly not to such a level of fanaticism - but he displays the necessary pessimism for prepping.

Barold Is Animal Crossing's Quintessential Doomsday Prepper

How Barold Became One Of Animal Crossing's Most Controversial Villagers

Barold's theorized preoccupation with a coming apocalypse is second to none. The walls of his home are nothing but the monitors of security cameras. There are enough screens to cover the goings-on of the whole island, and Barold has a water supply, a giant computer tower, a radio, a phone, a stack of books, and, for some reason, bunk beds and a sleeping bag. The paranoia evident in every corner of this home has "doomsday prepper" written all over it.

Animal Crossing Villagers Likely To Be Doomsday Preppers: Curt

Curt House Animal Crossing New Horizons

The interior design possibilities of New Horizons are truly endless. So instead of pouring his effort into research or escape routes, Curt appears to be practicing for an outdoor post-apocalyptic lifestyle. Anyone who gets their heat from a steaming oil barrel and cooks on two open, unprotected campfires, all while indoors, is at least on the upper end of the scale in their doomsday approach. Plus, Curt's jock personality means he's already thinking about how to be in best shape for whenever the zombies or mutants come.

With the many quirky villagers populating the towns of Animal Crossing, there are bound to be more with strange secrets and hobbies. For instance, why Phoebe lives in a lava pit is anyone's guess, unless she, like Curt, also believes in living like the apocalypse has already happened. But in case of emergency, it may be a good idea to have Octavian, Barold, or Curt around, and to really work on friendships with fellow Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers.
