Nintendo has made Animal Crossing cards based on Valentine's Day, and their adorableness is likely to touch the hearts of any fan. Valentine's doesn't have an official event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, unlike past Animal Crossing games, but these cards allow the ability to still celebrate Valentine's Day with the spirit of New Horizons.

The February update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons didn't feature as much content beyond the upcoming Festivale holiday, which displeased some fans that are still waiting for characters such as Brewster to arrive. For Valentine's, the update brought two gifts that could be ordered from the seasonal tab in the Nook catalog, the chocolate heart, and the heart-shaped bouquet. Valentine's in Animal Crossing never went beyond getting a gift from an NPC like Isabelle, but in New Horizons, the already minor holiday has been shelved off even further compared to Festivale, which is a shame given that Valentine's is a hugely popular holiday.

The Valentine's cards on Play Nintendo can be downloaded for free and feature various characters from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This isn't the first time that Nintendo has offered Animal Crossing content outside of the game. Isabelle's card is short and sweet, which is accurate for her character, but the cards for Blathers, CJ, and Flick use wordplay befitting of their characters. Celeste's card references her love of astrology, while Wilbur and Orville's card highlights the teamwork that they pull off together.

Due to Animal Crossing: New Horizons releasing at the start of the pandemic, many players have opted to celebrate various real-life events in the world of Animal Crossing. These include 2020 graduations and weddings in the absence of these events in real life. Some players have taken to recreating places from real life or movies to get a sense of connection to normalcy. Many people today are starved of social interaction, which is what made the timing of the release of the game so perfect.

Since Valentine's is right around the corner, some players might choose to go on an Animal Crossing Valentine's date with their special someone. Others may simply hang out with their buddies, and others still might just spend the holidays alone. But no matter how players choose to spend the upcoming holiday, Animal Crossing will continue to remain a valuable tool to regain that social connection that has been lost this year. The characters in these cards are those that many were introduced to at the start of this pandemic, so sending these cards to any Animal Crossing fan is sure to brighten the spirits and melt their hearts.
