Animal Crossing: New Horizons players recently took to Reddit to discuss their strategies for building the perfect Snowboy - the game's affection term for its winter season's snowmen. Players in the northern hemisphere are currently experiencing their same real-life weather patterns in Nintendo's social simulation game - but even if a player doesn't see snow falling outside their window in the real world, they can still experience such an event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Snowboys are a bit more unique than a real-life snowman, though. In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Snowboys come to life if they're built "correctly" - in other words, proportionally. After taking a player executes this feat, their Snowboy will be alive for the next couple of days and give a player a snowflake (used as an ingredient to craft certain wintry DIY recipes) each subsequent day. Snowboys also give players DIY recipes in general. As a result, there is quite a bit to be gained from correctly building a Snowboy - and if a player fails to do so, the Snowboy does not hesitate letting them know.

Reddit user MidnightCowgirl- recently uploaded a helpful infographic that provides a simple strategy for crafting the perfect Snowboy. The graphic shows how tall the two snowballs need to be compared to the height of a New Horizons playable villager. The base Snowboy snowball should reach just above any given playable character's nose, while the head should measure at just below their ear. The head's snowball appears to be around three-fourths the size of its body, making for a Snowboy that would tower over most island residents.

The post sparked a discussion in the comments section about other helpful strategies when approaching Snowboy builds. One user commented they count out the seconds it takes to roll the body and then head, explaining, "I use the counting method. Count to 17 for the first ball and 12 for the second." Another user described their own strategy, which doesn't require the "need to eyeball or guesstimate." They commented, "My technique is to find a strip of land where I can put a 2x10 block of path down. Put both snowballs on each end at their max size, roll one down to the other side and you'll get perfect Snowboys."

The quest to build the perfect Snowboy is seemingly never-ending (especially with so many different strategies yielding good results), but players who just want to mess around without much structure can still create commendable Snowboys. For one thing, Snowboys are very candid and let players know whether their work is acceptable. However, some ACNH players genuinely enjoy building disproportionate Snowboys, as well - ultimately, the choice is up to the player and their vision for their wintry island.
