The Happy Home Paradise DLC gives Animal Crossing: New Horizons players the opportunity to work as a vacation home designer on a brand new set of islands. To begin, players will need to purchase and download the Animal Crossing New Horizons DLC either individually or with the Nintendo Online Subscription + Expansion Pack. Once players have access to the DLC, they can get started working at the resort.

Tom Nook will immediately ask the player to join him at the airport once the expansion is downloaded. Players will be introduced to Lottie and offered a position with her at the resort designing dream homes. After the cutscene concludes, players can go to work by speaking to Orville at the airport. The Happy Home Paradise DLC has a comprehensive tutorial that teaches players how to help clients, what features are available, and all of the customization options open to them.

Once arriving at the resort, Animal Crossing players will be introduced to their team and given the option to customize their uniform from the locker and mirror upstairs. When the player is ready to work, their first client will automatically walk in and ask about a vacation home. The customer will describe their dream home, then players can get started designing.

Getting Started in Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise

ACNH Happy Home DLC New Client

After getting through the island resort introduction, players will be given their first job in the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise DLC. The client will specify characteristics, like a relaxing reading room, and there will also be three pieces of furniture that need to be incorporated. Other than those specifications, players are given complete control to insert and customize furniture, change the wallpaper, add an accent wall, and place hanging lighting fixtures.

With the first home, players will only focus on the interior. Afterward, players will tell the client they're finished and get paid 6,000 Poki for successfully executing the customer's vision. Next, a new client can be found outside on the beach, and there will be a few options to choose from. With the second client, players will be able to choose the location and season, as well as customize the home exterior and yard.

The second job concludes with the inclusion of a photograph which is used to populate the player's portfolio on the Happy Home Network in Animal Crossing. The last part of the tutorial is to go back to the first client to take a picture there and make sure they're still satisfied. After completing this final task, players will be able to choose new clients and continue growing their portfolio. Eventually, new customization options for Animal Crossing: New Horizons DLC will become available, and players can further develop their home designing skills.
