A player of Animal Crossing: New Horizons has cleverly recreated a number of iconic scenes from the Studio Ghibli movie Spirited Away using items from the hit Nintendo game. Animal Crossing challenges players with creating beautiful AC island designs using a variety of items and custom content, and the movie scene recreations use the game's tools to perfection.

Animal Crossing designers have been bringing their creative visions to life since the game released in 2020. Using different in-game items, clever photography tricks, and custom content, fans of the game are able to transform their islands into almost anything they desire, building everything from restaurants to savvy optical illusions. Sadly, a lack of interactivity across the item catalog means most island designs are purely for aesthetic, and not functional builds. While many are hoping this will change in a future Animal Crossing update, others are content using the game's tools to recreate their favorite movies.

Redditor and AC fan IsleofBunny has been impressing the r/Animal Crossing subreddit with their incredible Ghibli-inspired builds over the last few months. The talented builder has now recreated a number of recognizable moments and locations from the movie, including the "Bathhouse interior," the "Ship of Spirits," and the especially impressive "Attack on Haku," complete with the water spirit Haku. More of the user's creations can be found on IsleofBunny's Instagram, where the player is showcasing their builds as they work towards shaping their entire island around the classic movie.

The player has used a multitude of different in-game items to recreate the scenes, but has also made use of custom content. The game allows players to create and share pixel designs in Animal Crossing, which can be used on various in-game items. Custom-designed panels are how the player has mimicked the window with the river spirit Haku appearing to be passing by. As well as custom content, the user has utilized many of the game's Japanese-themed items to get the look right, including bonsai trees, and the Imperial Fence. Players looking to recreate their own favorite Ghibli movie scenes can expect the design process to take a while, with the user explaining that each area can take one to two days to complete.

Animal Crossing will receive a new update later this year, which is likely to introduce new items to the game. The title has received multiple updates since its release, and most recently brought fireworks shows back to Animal Crossing. The summer celebration shows will be available each Sunday throughout August before they're removed. While it's not known what will be introduced later this year, AC fans can likely expect new themed item sets, which will probably inspire a whole host of new island design ideas.
