Players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons are sharing their frustrations over one of the game's new additions, the Nook's Cranny Black Friday sale, known in Animal Crossing as Nook Friday. The event is one of many features introduced with the game's substantial November 2.0 update, which added a host of content to the 2020 release.

The Nook Black Friday sale is a limited-time event in which players can score a 30% saving on items being sold in their island store. The event, which runs from November 26 to November 30, is a good opportunity for Animal Crossing players to buy new furniture, tools, and even recipes, each with a big Bell saving. The event isn't time-locked, meaning time travelers can experience the sale outside of its set days by changing the date and time on their Nintendo Switch console. Those who haven't picked up the latest Animal Crossing recipes can find the Turkey Day recipes in the Nook's Cranny cabinet, discounted during the Black Friday event.

While the Animal Crossing Nook Friday sale is supposed to be a boon for players, many are frustrated at how long it takes to buy items during the event. Unlike real-world Black Friday sales, this isn't down to long queues, but instead due to the length of the speeches given by Timmy and Tommy. When interacting with each item, the player is met with long and repetitive dialogue from the shopkeepers, which many feel makes the buying process unnecessarily long. Redditor garrettgivre turned the issue into a meme, receiving over 8,000 Upvotes from players who've also grown tired of the characters' dialogue. The post has been inundated with comments from other players who've found the event to be more tiresome than valuable.

This isn't the first time that Animal Crossing players have been frustrated with the game's dialogue. Since its release, fans have expressed their disappointment in many of the things characters have to say - and how long it takes for them to say it - with often long-winded and repetitive conversations from NPCs and villagers. When using Nook Miles Tickets, players must sit through lots of dialogue from Orville which no variation, while villagers are also quick to repeat the same phrases and conversations. This has led many to express frustration not only over a lack of personality from characters, but also an oversight on the developer's part in terms of not providing quality-of-life options such as a skip button.

The game's recent 2.0 update added a host of quality-of-life improvements to Animal Crossing, introducing more storage options, new ways to climb cliffs, and the ability to navigate smaller spaces. However, the update didn't do much in terms of cutting out filler dialogue and repeating phrases. It's possible that these changes could be implemented in future game patches, but it's worth noting that with no further substantial updates planned for the game, a big change to the dialogue of NPCs and villagers seems unlikely.
