Fishing in Animal Crossing New Horizons is a favored past-time for many but can be a tedious chore for others. And while players will need to fish to collect Nook Miles, they can now also fish for clothes and furniture. Players now have the ability to fish up items that can be turned into other, more useful items. Which items? Wood? Iron? Not Quite. The new crafting mechanics allows players the ability to turn fished up trash into man-made treasure.

While fishing up trash is not something new to Animal Crossing, making useful items out of trash is. Players have the opportunity to fish up boots, empty cans, and even old tires that until now were a pain in the rear when collected. But now these items can be turned in to decorations for your island, and one of which is the Tire Toy made from old tires. Players can also craft items out of fished up boots and empty cans but we will save those for another guide.

How to Make a Tire Toy in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Animal Crossing Tire Toy recipe

The first thing players will need to craft a Tire Toy is obviously an Old Tire. Once a player has fished up an old tire their character will announce that they have an idea for a DIY crafting recipe. The recipe is for, you guessed it, a Tire Toy.

The recipe requires a single tire that the player already has and that is it. Once a player has an old tire they can make their way to a crafting bench to turn it into a Tire Toy. The Tire Toy is a piece of furniture that is a half tire sticking up out of the ground. It can be used as a stool that players can sit on in all four cardinal directions. Items cannot be placed on the Tire Toy for decoration.

Toy Tires are great for outdoor use and can be paired with other Tire Toys or tree stumps to give you island a more rustic DIY feel. Tire Toys can also be sold but do not sell for much higher than an actual Old Tire. Plus, fishing up tires can be a bit of a rare occurrence making Tire Toys more valuable to hold on to than to sell.

When attempting to fish up an old tire, players should aim for fish that are larger in size. While it is still rare that the fish will actually be a tire, the larger fish shadows are the only ones that will net a player a tire.
