There are many villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons to interact with, and more throughout the series. A few villagers have bad reputations as neighbors, but others would make even worse roommates. Generally, villagers get a bad reputation based on how they look or the negative interactions they have with both the player and other villagers. Some can be cranky or rude, while others can be lazy or just have strange habits that get them low ranks on the villager tier list.

Every villager in Animal Crossing has a base personality like Jock, Sisterly, or Snooty, and they have some general associations with that trait. Jocks like to exercise and constantly be active while Sisterly villagers will be humble and caring toward the player. Along with general traits, each villager has their own unique style and a few characteristics that make them stand out amongst the other characters in their personality category.

The small details and individual styles are what would make some of the villagers terrible roommates. Of course, no one would want a Snooty or Lazy roommate, but some are much more tolerable than others. Some of the most hated villagers would actually make decent roommates, like some of the chickens or gorillas, and a few of the more popular ones are definitely characters that would be hard to live with.

Sherb Would Bring Unwanted House Guests In New Horizons

Animal Crossing Villagers That Would Make The Worst Roommates Ever Sherb

Sherb is actually one of the most popular villagers in Animal Crossing, but, while he's fun to have roaming around the island, he would make an awful roommate. As a Lazy villager, Sherb is constantly sleeping or sitting around. Although he may be easy to get along with, he probably wouldn't help out around the house or help pay increasingly large debts to Tom Nook. However, Sherb's laziness isn't the worst part about him.

Most of Sherb's conversations involve the food left around his house or the many bugs living with him. As a roommate, Sherb would likely be dirty and bring his bug friends with him. Having to constantly clean up Sherb's leftovers or deal with the bugs, and possibly his bad odor, would be a constant point of frustration and disgust. On the other hand, for anyone that likes the company of ants and other creepy crawlers, Sherb might make an excellent roommate in New Horizons.

Animal Crossing's Monique Would Constantly Talk About Herself

Animal Crossing Villagers That Would Make The Worst Roommates Ever Monique

The Snooty Monique is both a generally disliked villager in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and a bad choice for a roommate. Monique constantly talks about herself and looks down on others. Her frequent gossiping, judging, and overall negative demeanor toward other villagers and the player have earned her a bad reputation. There may be a large number of Snooty villagers, but Monique takes it to another level.

Even after getting close to Monique and establishing a friendship with her in Animal Crossing, she will still mostly talk about herself and continue to make rude comments. Monique seems like the type of roommate that would make up crazy stories just to be the center of attention at all times. This self-absorbed, entitled cat brings little to the table in terms of being a roommate, and her constant judgemental behavior would make her nearly impossible to live with for long.

Chief Would Spread Rumors Out Of Boredom In Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing Villagers That Would Make The Worst Roommates Ever Chief

Chief is not as low-tier a villager in Animal Crossing as Monique, but he will similarly gossip about others. However, Chief likes to start rumors about his neighbors out of boredom and will likely cause a lot of arguments. He's difficult to get along with and will quickly become unpleasant if players disagree with him about anything. He's also constantly trying to compete with players to prove he's better than them.

Having a roommate like Chief would probably mean avoiding the neighbors because he likely expressed some scandalous yet unsubstantiated gossip. As a roommate, Chief may get a little intense with competitions and be an extremely sore loser. Chief is also generally cranky which would be unpleasant to put up with. It's likely many people would easily get sick of this Animal Crossing: New Horizons villager as he's an obnoxious, easily annoyed rumor spreader that makes for a bad roommate.

Pietro May Turn Your Animal Crossing Home Into A Funhouse

Animal Crossing Villagers That Would Make The Worst Roommates Ever Pietro

The clown-clad colorful sheep named Pietro is a Smug villager that is fairly easy to get along with but can be arrogant and full of himself. Having a clown that's always in character can be unsettling and, for some, horrifying to live with. Pietro is generally fun to have around the island in New Horizons, but getting used to a clown roommate would be a difficult feat. Aside from his appearance and personality, there are a few other reasons Pietro would make a bad roommate.

For those that aren't creeped out by clowns, Pietro would still be a very inconvenient housemate. With an affinity for all things whacky and fantastical, a place shared with Pietro could be closer to a funhouse than a comfortable home. In Happy Home Paradise for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pietro requests a 'World of Dreams' for his home and requires a Ferris wheel somewhere on the property. Having Pietro as a roommate would mean a carnival for a home, and, while that could be fun in theory, it's not a practical living environment.

Jitters Would Cause Too Much Stress In Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing Villagers That Would Make The Worst Roommates Ever Jitters

As his name suggests, Jitters is a very jumpy, anxious-looking villager with a Jock personality. As if his unnerving, wide-eyed stare wasn't enough, Jitters also comments on the player's level of physical fitness and will get competitive. Jitters generally gets along with others, but he can be a bit smug when it comes to exercise and his activeness. His Jock personality in Animal Crossing: New Horizons could be annoying to put up with all the time.

While not the worst roommate imaginable, Jitters would likely increase stress levels the moment he moved in. His jumpiness is likely to cause some anxiety and negativity, and his expression makes him seem fearful or paranoid. Additionally, getting used to seeing Jitters' horrifying expression every morning may be impossible. At the very least, he would probably drink all the coffee, and that's unacceptable in most living situations.

Cranky Villagers Would Make The Worst Animal Crossing Roommates

Animal Crossing Villagers That Would Make The Worst Roommates Ever Cranky

Regardless of individual personality traits and habits, cranky villagers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons would make the worst possible roommates. Dealing with a villager that's constantly irritable, spreads rumors, starts arguments, and throws tantrums is annoying enough while trying to maintain a fun island. Having a cranky villager roommate would be unbearable and more frustrating than living with any other type of villager from Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
