Animal Crossing has a wide variety of villagers, and not all deserve the hate they get. The villagers can be simple, extravagant, or kind of ugly; but they all come in different colors and personalities. Despite the variety, there are some villagers that most players have decided to ostracize.

Villagers in Animal Crossing are an important part of the game. They help set the mood of an island or are just fun for the players to interact with, but also make the Animal Crossing games feel alive when they are spotted stretching or trying to fish in a lake. Players even spend days trying to find the perfect villager to have on their island.

Despite the love for villagers, there are some that most players have come to a consensus that they hate. Villagers are there to be players’ friends, which to some is the real point of Animal Crossing. The villagers can also give the player gifts, and celebrate birthdays, and many don't deserve the amount of hate they seem to receive in public discourse.

Beardo, Animal Crossing's Most Dashing Bear

Beardo is a smug bear villager. He is a bright blue, with a brown mustache and mutton chops. Though at first glance, the chops look like a cool swirl design on his face. He has a brown tail and brown fur on his stomach. His default clothing outfit is a brown tweed jacket. Despite his personality and attractive colors, Beardo is one of the most disliked villagers. The reason is because of the way the brown fur patch on his stomach. To some, the patch of fur looks a bit inappropriate. However, the fur is brown and his default jacket is brown, so really the patch of fur looks like an extra flap of fabric or maybe an apron.

Despite being known to some as Animal Crossing’s worst villager, Beardo is a sweetheart. His smug personality means he will get along with almost every villager. He does not deserve the hate he gets simply for the design on his stomach. His bright color and smug personality make him a treat to have as a villager.

Diva, The Best Big Sister In Animal Crossing

Diva is the only frog villager with a big sister personality. She cares for the player and will give advice, like any good big sister. She is a pretty purple, with blue eyeshadow and light purple lipstick. It doesn't seem like a recipe for dislike, but her flashy color palette is a common complaint; the purple skin, blue eyeshadow, and light purple lips are too much for some players. The color matches her name, perhaps it makes sense in that not everyone understands a diva.

Despite it being a popular opinion that she is one of the Animal Crossing villagers to kick off one's island, players should think twice about Diva. Her big sister personality ensures she does look out for players, and even if she sometimes sounds mean, she's just doing what a good big sister does.

Dom, The Cutest Sheep In Animal Crossing

Dom is a sheep villager with a jock personality. He has an energetic disposition and will get along best with peppy, smug, and other jock villagers. His design is adorable, as can be seen in his glinting eyes and attractive, pastry-bun-styled horns.

Yet some people hate him for a couple of reasons. The first reason is his eyes. Some players have mentioned his eyes make them uncomfortable, which is certainly a valid enough reason. Yet some people also dislike him because his Animal Crossing jock personality clashes with his cute design. However, this is a fairly narrow-minded way of looking at things, as anyone can be athletic, and in Dom's case, being both cute and energetic don't seem like valid reasons to exclude him.

Naomi, Animal Crossing's Brightest Villager

Naomi is a cow villager with a typical snooty personality. She’s a gossip who tends to talk down to the player and other villagers. However, the biggest issue most have with Naomi is her eyes. They are lined with red, but the all-black pits make some players uncomfortable. However, she's quite an attractive citizen in general. Her bright colors and pompous attitude bring to mind a fashion designer or model, or maybe even a vampire. But she is very stylish, making Naomi perfect for an island that is full of bright colors and brightly colored villagers. Or maybe even an island that has a little bit of a spooky vibe.

Coach, The Fittest Bull In All Of Animal Crossing

A bull jock villager, Coach is another disliked Animal Crossing villager. He is best known as one of the Animal Crossing villagers likely spending Valentine's Day alone. One of the common reasons players dislike him is because of the gray stubble around his face, which is a more aggressively masculine look than some players are interested in.

That said, the stubble fits Coach’s personality and profession. He dresses and acts like a coach for a sports team, so the stubble seems to augment his persona. Plus, he is a sweet character just to have around. Whether it is his birthday or he is just standing and stretching on the island, his presence always adds something to the atmosphere.

Chow, Animal Crossing's Best & Simplest Villager

Chow is a cranky bear villager. Described as one of the worst Animal Crossing villagers, Chow is disliked for his odd mouth and his color. However, his grin isn't especially unsettling, seeming perfectly friendly, and his black-and-pink color pattern is simple and tasteful, just like Chow himself.

Chow is a gem to have on a player’s island. He isn't flashy or demanding, just a simple villager with simple needs. He often remarks that he does not need fancy items or clothes. When a player and Chow have a high friendship, Chow is an amazing and caring friend. For example, when the player has not been on the island in a long time, his concern rivals that of a big sister villager.

Monique, Animal Crossing's Glammest Cat

Another villager with a snooty personality, Monique is called one of the Animal Crossing's worst roommates. She comes across as rude and arrogant and enjoys gossiping. However, that is how every snooty villager acts when they first arrive at a player’s island. When the player talks to Monique enough and builds a friendship with her, she will warm up.

The hate for her probably revolves around her looks. The bright purple eyeshadow, lipstick, and the 2016-era eyebrows can be a turn-off to some players. However, her looks are easily ignorable when the player gets to know her, and she has as much potential as anyone to become a great friend to the player. Monique is an Animal Crossing villager perfect for an island of snooty villagers or an island full of glam, adding a little sass and plenty of style.
