In the Winter update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will now be able to sit with their island’s residents, and it is a dream come true for many. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a wholesome escape from the chaos of everyday life. With quaint items to craft, scenic vistas to explore and a parade of adorable visitors and residents on the islands, it has become one of 2020s best loved games.

Much like with previous seasons, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will be getting a Winter update soon. Starting from November 19th, players will be able to take part in new in-game events, including Turkey Day on November 26th and Toy Day on December 24. Both of these events alone make the Winter update an incredibly exciting prospect, but it is not these that have got fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons most passionate about. What has really fired up the internet is the humble but game changing “sitting” reaction that will become available to players this month.

Nintendo shared the full reveal of its upcoming update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons on YouTube earlier today, and within minutes Reddit feeds had been started up lauding the arrival of the “sitting” reaction. Many praised Nintendo for listening to its fans, as being able to sit down and chill out with island residents has been high on Animal Crossing: New Horizons players’ wish list for a while now. Reddit user Fantastic505 shared a screen grab of the glorious moment to share with the Animal Crossing community. Comeawaymelinda even made their own meme to encapsulate all the emotions they felt throughout the reveal trailer. The climax of the post, their discovery that they would be able to “sit next to villagers”.

Other reactions will also become available to owners of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players will be able to work out and partake in some yoga for when island life is just not quite Zen enough (let’s be honest, Animal Crossing islands are the most chill place to be right now). There is also a reaction to take photos and one to sniff food - something that will be well used on Turkey Day thanks to new chef Franklin.

All in all, it looks set to be a great update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It is safe to say though that the sitting reaction update has stolen the show in the latest reveal from Nintendo, and that is pretty good going considering an adorable Christmas reindeer named Jingle was also announced in the same trailer.
