Animal Crossing: New Horizons features a rare event when getting coffee from Brewster that shows how the next Animal Crossing game can boost the Roost into something bigger than a museum café. While there haven't been hints or confirmation of what direction Animal Crossing is going to take in its next game, there is no shortage of ideas for how it should include (and improve) Brewster and The Roost. It was a welcome presence in ACNH, and should make a return in a potential sequel.

Brewster and The Roost were part of the last major update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Nestled upstairs in Blathers’ museum, The Roost is a small café for residents and visitors to grab a cup of coffee and relax. Animal Crossing's Roost can be relaxing without ordering, making it a unique and fun addition to the island getaway roster. After having to wait a little over a year for any news and the implementation of Brewster and The Roost, many players bemoaned his exclusion from ACNH and then rejoiced when he was finally introduced in the 2.0 update. However, there is still something lacking about The Roost.

Typically, a visit to Animal Crossing: New Horizon's The Roost involves a chance encounter with a visitor or resident sitting up at the café bar with their own cup of coffee. Another special Roost-exclusive encounter occurs when an NPC villager or special resident walks into the Roost to order to-go cup of coffee from Brewster. Some of the best Animal Crossing villagers in the Roost are among the more exciting surprises Brewster’s café offers. This means that normally, a player is either alone in The Roost, or interacts with one or two characters, in addition to Brewster. However, when Reddit user Thisma08 posted a screenshot of their New Horizons Roost full, with two visitors and a resident sitting for coffee, as well as a resident ordering a to-go coffee, it's actually shocking to discover how rare this event actually is.

Next Animal Crossing Game - Brewster's Roost Could Use A Boost

Though the current Roost atmosphere is one of quiet, slow churning days, that constant repetition can become quite dull for Brewster and players alike. Rather than constant slow days, The Roost in the next Animal Crossing game should be much more lively. ACNH’s Brewster has an unlikely singing voice perfect for a café karaoke or open mic night, and since many villagers dream of being famous singers, these would be perfect additions to The Roost. Brewster’s café could become more similar to a real-world café by having more business, from established villagers, to visiting merchants and campers, to the development of special NPCs, passionate about finding the perfect cup of coffee. Perhaps players could have a job baking pastries for Brewster, getting to know the special orders of various Animal Crossing: New Horizons characters along the way. Ultimately, getting to interact with multiple, different characters of New Horizons shouldn’t be such a rare event, as the game is all about nurturing friendships with the villagers.

Though players are spoiled in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Roost proves there is still room for improvement within the Animal Crossing series. In the next installment of Animal Crossing, Brewster’s café could transform into another happening spot of the island, similar to the Town Square. Brewster does participate in some activities, such as group stretching, so it makes sense that The Roost could host its own events. While it's nice to have quiet time with a good cup of coffee sometimes, The Roost should be updated to reflect the waxing and waning flow of customers in a real-world café, rather than almost always being empty. By giving Brewster and The Roost a bigger role, the sequel to Animal Crossing: New Horizons would be venturing into something unexplored, giving players an entirely new and exciting gameplay experience.
