The trailer for Animal Crossing: New Horizons' November update arrived this week, revealing that players will soon have access to Save Data Transfer, among other awesome additions to the game. The transfer feature will allow users to completely move their islands between Nintendo Switch consoles.

The latest installment in the Animal Crossing series sends players to a mostly deserted island, where they can build a perfect beach town for themselves and their anthropomorphic animal friends using a huge collection of purchased and DIY items. Since New Horizons' release in March, many fans have gotten seriously creative with their island designs and spent over 1,000 hours perfecting every last inch of the map. Of course, putting all that work in makes players hesitant to switch to a new console, out of fear that all progress would be lost. Thankfully, Nintendo is continuously making improvements to the game, and the newest update will hopefully make players feel a bit more secure in their New Horizons save data.

Nintendo's latest Animal Crossing: New Horizons update trailer revealed that Save Data Transfer will be available on November 19. According to the official New Horizons website, a free Island Transfer Tool app will be available in the Nintendo eShop and allows players to relocate save data. The game's primary player, known as the Resident Representative, can transfer the entire island and its residents, while any other players on the console can transfer the data for their player profiles. This includes the resident's name, appearance, equipment, home storage, inventory, and more. In order to use these features, players must have access to both the game's original Nintendo Switch and the one in which the data will be transferred to.

Of course, that's not all the new update has in store. New Horizons will get two new events to celebrate the winter holidays, as well as new hairstyles and reactions. Plus, players can finally get one huge upgrade they've been asking for: more home storage. Simply talk to Tom at Resident Services to expand the storage maximum on a fully upgraded home from 1,600 to 2,400 items.

The new Save Data Transfer feature is a big step from New Horizons' cloud save feature introduced in the July update. Nintendo added the option for players to have their island data automatically and periodically uploaded to the internet. This way, island data can be recovered if the console breaks or gets lost or stolen. Still, the feature is primarily useful only for restoring an island to its original console. Players who wanted to move Animal Crossing: New Horizons to a new Switch found themselves jumping through a ton of hoops and chatting with Nintendo Customer Support, begging for a better way to move systems. Now, the change seems like it will be easier than ever -- just in time for gamers to get their hands on new Nintendo Switch consoles during the holidays.
