Because of the real-time game mechanics of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will experience the same weather patterns in the game as they do in real life. For players in the Northern hemisphere, that means summer fun will soon come to the game. For players in the Southern hemisphere, however, winter seasonal DIY goodies and events will come to their islands in mid-June. To receive some winter DIY recipes for frozen-themed goodies like the Ice Wand, players will need to build Snowboys.

Snowboy is a snowman players must build in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. If he is built correctly, he will come to life for several days as a character in town and give the player a seasonal DIY recipe. He will also give the player a snowflake each day he is alive, which is necessary to craft the recipes he provides. Players can make a Snowboy any time snowballs appear on the island and any time the island is fully blanketed in snow to collect all the possible recipes. Snowboys can be made in many different sizes, but only ones built perfectly will come to life and offer recipes. Here's how to build the perfect Snowboy every time and all the recipes players can collect from them.

Building the Perfect Snowboy in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Methods for making a perfect Snowboy

Players can only build Snowboys in Animal Crossing: New Horizons when there are snowballs around the island, which only occurs when snow has completely covered the ground. As in real life, players will need to roll these snowballs around to make them larger. They can break, however, so to respawn them, players will need to enter and leave a building. Players will not receive snowballs on their island if the airport gates are open.

To build the perfect Snowboy, players will need to roll two snowballs to the correct height. The first snowball should be rolled around until the top of it reaches the top of a player's character's eyes. This will be the base of the Snowboy, so players should put this snowball somewhere with space around it so they can speak to him. To ensure the proper height, players may need to tilt the camera.

Players should push the second snowball around until the top of it reaches the same height as the top of a player's character's ears.

Finally, players will need to push the smaller snowball onto the base snowball to complete the Snowboy. Snowboy should immediately congratulate the player for making a perfect snowman. If he doesn't, the player may need to start over and make sure they got the sizes correct using the camera tilt feature.

Snowboy DIY Recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The recipe for DIY Ice Flooring in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Each perfect Snowboy will give players a recipe and some snowflakes needed to craft it. All these recipes are winter or snow and ice themed and appear to be exclusive to the winter season. They all require snowflakes and large snowflakes to craft, so players may need to create many Snowboys to get all the needed materials. They all look like something out of Elsa's ice castle in Frozen, so if that is the aesthetic a player is looking for, building Snowboys is a must. The possible recipes and their needed materials are:

  • Frozen Arch: One large snowflake and 10 snowflakes
  • Frozen Bed: One large snowflake and 10 snowflakes
  • Frozen Chair: One large snowflake and three snowflakes
  • Frozen Counter: One large snowflake and five snowflakes
  • Frozen Partition: One large snowflake and six snowflakes
  • Frozen Pillar: One large snowflake and three snowflakes
