Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows players to create a dedicated room for a bathroom. This guide will help players design the perfect bathroom to fit any player's needs. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is all about making the best out of being thrown into a deserted island. At the start of the game, players are given nothing more than a large loan and a small tent to sleep in to pass the nights. Aside from this, the island is relatively empty, containing a few neighbors for the player to interact with and the natural resources to harvest for profit. As the game continues and the player's home expands, new options begin to open up and one of the biggest is determining how to customize one's home. The player begins in a small tent, but after paying off the first loan, players will be able to afford their own homes and each upgrade that comes along with it. Expanding to additional rooms, a basement, and even an attic, the amount of space earned by the player for paying off their loans is astounding and comes along with many ideas. While the player can make any room whatever they want, most players enjoy making their Animal Crossing: New Horizons homes actually feel like a real-world home. This includes creating rooms that are essential like a bedroom for sleeping, kitchen for cooking and storing food, and arguably the most important, the bathroom. The bathroom is a sacred location in many homes, allowing for privacy unlike any other. This guide will help players make the most of what Animal Crossing: New Horizons has to offer with creating a perfect bathroom.

Within the home on the island, there are plenty of customization options outside of just placing and moving around furniture. Inside the home, players can mount pictures and shirts on the walls, add special wallpapers to each room, plant down flooring patterns to make each room unique, and store various items from the outside world. The most effective use of the home for players who don't plan to truly customize their living arrangements is the storage unit that comes along with it. With each upgrade, more storage space is added, allowing the player to clear out clutter from their inventory, story clothing away to have for special occasions, or to just be put away and forgotten forever. Although, the storage is just the icing on the cake for players with the eye to design. It is recommended to focus on creating a bathroom after unlocking the second room upgrade. Here is the breakdown of what is required to unlock the second room.

  • Tent: This is the first "home" the player is given at the start of the game. This will cost 5,000 Nook Miles to pay for.
  • The First Home: This location is unlocked after completing the 5,000 Nook Miles task loan. It comes along with a six-by-six floor plan and includes 80 slots for storage. This is the first home upgrade in the game and can be done within the first few days of playing.
  • The Second Home Upgrade: This one is given to the player after paying off the 98,000 Bell loan for the First Home. This makes the floor a bit bigger, bringing it to an eight-by-eight system and brings the total amount of storage from 80 slots to 120 slots. This may take a few days to complete, but selling bugs and fish is the most effective way of paying this off early on.
  • Back Room Upgrade: This home upgrade becomes available after paying off the 198,000 Bell loan for the Second Home upgrade. This is the first housing upgrade that will bring an additional room to the house. The dimensions of this extra room are six-by-six and provide the player with more storage space, bringing it to a total of 240. Players will now need to get more crafty with all this extra space.

Here's how to create the perfect bathroom.

Designing The Perfect Bathroom in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Animal Crossing 2.0 K. K. Slider Songs

Saharah is the most important aspect of designing the perfect bathroom. Occasionally, Saharah will appear on the island, providing the player with a variety of flooring and wallpaper options. For the bathroom, the player will want to aim for the Cloud Flooring, as this provides a healthy misty to take over the room. The only trick here is any item purchased from Saharah is completely random until after it is purchased. The Brown Wooden Deck-Rug is nice for players who want a more natural look for their islands. Although, no bathroom is complete without the essentials. Here is how player's can find them.

  • Toilet: Can be sold at Nook's Cranny, by shaking trees, or popping balloons.
  • Sink: Purchase the Wildest Dreams DIY from Timmy at Nook's Cranny.
  • Bath: It's recommended to use the Outdoor Bath recipe that can be found by redeeming Nook Miles.
  • The Cypress Bath: Another excellent selection for bathrooms. This is a rare DIY, the best option would be to get from a friend.

Saharah can also visit friends islands, so it is recommended to visit friends if they have her on their island. She sells all the really good stuff, so make sure to bring along plenty of Bells to gamble for those top tier flooring and wall items.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a neat little trick that brings more life into the bathroom. If the player goes around the island and eats the fruit from the trees, a meter will begin to fill in the top left of the screen. This is usually emptied when players uproot trees from the ground or shatter rocks, but there is another function of this meter. If the player goes into their home and uses the toilet with a meter, the character will relieve themselves. It's a strange addition to the game but will cause players to pass a lite chuckle whenever it happens. The bathroom is a safe space for many players, inside and outside of the game. It makes sense why players would want to make this place extra special on their tropical island.
