The popular YouTube series Boundary Break recently created an episode about Nintendo’s latest release, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In some games, the player can break through walls by making use of glitches and exploits, and this YouTube channel features many such games and the secrets they may hold beyond their boundaries. Series creator “shesez” takes his viewers through inaccessible areas in countless games, both old and new. He often discovers strange textures, models, and bits of maps that developers left behind in areas never intended to be seen by the player.

Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons takes place on a large island where the player lives with their friendly animal neighbors. The game is an extremely casual life-simulator which allows players to progress at their own pace. Some of the goals and objectives of Animal Crossing include building a large home and paying off debts. Each player’s personal island also features a museum. When the player reels in a fish, catches a bug, or finds a fossil, they may donate to the museum. This building, run by a bug-fearing nocturnal owl named Blathers, acts as a catalogue of creatures. Players can stroll through it anytime to enjoy the exhibits they have donated.

In a recent Boundary Break episode on YouTube, shesez explores beyond the invisible walls of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. When he enters one of the insect rooms, he steps inside of a wall and reveals a part of the room the player can never see otherwise. A single moth is perched on the wall for no explainable reason. It’s impossible to get close to the insect, or to capture it with the bug net. It’s very strange that this bug appears in an area that would never be seen, especially considering the moth has it’s own dedicated exhibit within the museum. For some reason, this moth reigns supreme as the one insect in the room that is free from an enclosure. Players can only assume the reason behind this out of bounds secret. Perhaps it was a placeholder, an accident, or an intentional secret. Check it out below:

This hidden insect is completely inaccessible to the average player, as shesez explains he will not be giving a tutorial on how to achieve the camera glitch. He does so in order to keep the integrity of the game, especially considering it’s brand new, he does not want to release information on how to hack it. As the Boundary Break episode continues, shesez steps inside some of the insect cages. Some of these cages use sand as the floor, and shesez expresses his surprise at the fact that the sand actually responds to the player walking on it. This may not sound surprising, but it is rare to find that an inaccessible area like this behaves as it should. These small details point to how fleshed out and detailed Animal Crossing: New Horizons truly is.

Boundary Break gives players a new perspective on the games they play, and can reveal things that would never be found otherwise. In terms of things which can be discovered in Nintendo's Animal Crossing: New Horizons, shesez was lucky all he found waiting for him was a moth and not a deadly tarantula.
