It has been under a year since the launch of Animal Crossing: New Horizonsand updates and events have added a large amount of content since the game's spring release. With each New Horizons seasonal event players obtain more decorations, and the recent addition of a new Animal Crossing villager teases the potential for more new faces that could become available to come live on player islands. With this new content, however, there is a problem that some fans might be running into: Animal Crossing islands aren't very big, and that crunch for space can start to feel limiting.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons needs to add size upgrades for islands. As the player advances in the game, amassing various decorations and maxing out how many villagers can live in their town, the islands begin to feel cramped. With every corner dedicated to a spaceship, amusement ride, or house with outdoor sitting area, it is becoming clear that very soon there won't be enough space left on Animal Crossing islands for players to continue setting up the many wonderous things they find or craft. With more Animal Crossing events coming up, the addition of island size expansions would give players much needed real-estate for their treasures.

Island expansion packs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons could work a lot like upgrading a player's house. After the player has finished certain tasks, like upgrading Nook's Cranny or completing additional rooms to their house, the ability to expand the island could become available through Tom Nook. It would likely be an expensive upgrade, as nothing comes cheap in Animal Crossing, but having the option to add a little square footage would make a huge difference for those feeling the pinch of space on their tiny island homes.

Another reason why expanding the islands would be excellent for Animal Crossing fans is the potential to build more houses for villagers. If players could expand the space on their island, being able to add another villager house could be an option. There are so many Animal Crossing characters that players enjoy, and the limited number of villager houses on a players island can feel frustrating to those who might want another adorable face to interact with during their day. With new Animal Crossing characters being released for players to invite to their homes, a few more villager houses would be a nice addition for those in later stages of gameplay.

The addition of island expansions later in the game would give Animal Crossing fans a new goal to look forward to as they near the end of the current upgrades available for their houses and towns. Giving a little more room to players who want to show off their hard earned decorations, or who would love an additional Animal Crossing villager to join their population, would only add to the enjoyment fans find in the game. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is only getting bigger, and it would only make sense to add a little more space for all the exciting things that are coming.
