The newest Earth Day update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons came many new features, including an Art Exhibit wing of the museum, flowery bushes, and a shady character selling knock-off goods. Update 1.2.0 also added a long-sought-after fencing option to the game, hedges. Finally, players can make their yards and park areas more appealing with these simple bunches of bushes. Crafting the hedges is easy enough but finding the DIY recipe will take a few steps.

The excitement of making the island a more nature-inspired area is exciting. After updating to the newest version of Animal Crossing players will not have instant access to crafting hedges. There are a few steps involved in finding this DIY recipe and this guide will detail what needs to be done.

Finding The Hedge DIY Recipe in Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing Nook Residential Center

Finding the DIY Recipe for hedges is, luckily, very easy to do. The first step will be to head into the Residential Services building and talk with Tom Nook, he will tell the player about the Limited-Time Nature Day activities that will take place from April 23rd until May 4th. These special activities can be found in the Nook Miles app on the Nook Phone. There will be one new activity each day.

Open up the Nook Miles app and take a look at the special daily activity that's highlighted in green. Activities can range from planting shrubs, crafting wreaths, or making a new fruit tree. Whatever activity it shows simply achieve that goal and collect the Nook Miles.

Head back to Tom in the Residential Services building and he will congratulate you on joining the event and send the hedges DIY recipe directly to your Nook Phone. In order to craft the exclusive Earth Day hedges, you will need some specific ingredients.

  • 10 clumps of weeds
  • 5 tree branches
  • 2 stones

These are all easily-found resources that are usually scattered all over an island anyway. Once gathered, just head to any DIY bench with the required ingredients and you'll be able to make hedges in stacks of 10 at a time. The hedges will work like any other fencing option and can create beautiful blocked off landscapes. Currently, there are no customization options available for hedges but the default look will certainly spruce up any outside environment.
